The Struggle by L.J. Smith
5.0
I just finished reading The Struggle. It is the second book in The Vampire Diaries series. It is written by L.J. Smith. It takes place in a small town called Mystic Falls.
The Struggle is about Elena and Stephan trying to keep Damon from harming them and their loved ones. They are also struggling to prove Stephan's innocence to the town. A majority of the town thinks that he is responsible for attacks that happened in the town since he arrived. Elena's diary also gets stolen. She and her friends set out to find who stole it before they try to use it against her and Stephan.
The storyline is really awesome once you get past all the teeny bopper stuff. Considering the target audience for this series is teens though, I am not using that as an insult. I think this is a very suspenseful book and series that keeps you wanting to turn the pages. I really enjoy watching the characters in this series as their personalities alter. Some for the best and some for the worst. I am fully intending to read the rest of this series. I even look forward to it!

Training Wheels by Michael Stringer
5.0
I just finished reading Training Wheels. It is a book written by Michael Stringer. It takes place in California.
Training Wheels is about a boy who is about to enter high school. During his summer, he finds out his family isn't as together as he once believed they were. He especially learned that his parents weren't the perfect heroic figures he once believed they were. He meets a girl, and he falls in love for the first time. During his transition from growing out of childhood and turning into a man, he learns many of the harsh realities of the world. He learns that not everything is as easy and fixable as we believe it to be when we are children.
I loved this book! i almost couldn't put it down! It was wonderfully written and well thought out. I fully recommend this book to everybody. I especially think many teenagers would benefit from reading this book. I could see myself reading this book many times and not getting tired of it. If a person loves books that involve real life issues and situations and the journey of personal growth in a character then this book would be perfect for them!

Silevethiel: Book One by Andi O'Connor
5.0
I just finished reading Silvethiel. it is the first book in the Vaelinel Trilogy. It is written by Andi O'Connor. it takes place in the world of Vaelinel.
This book is about a princess who is betrayed and left for dead by someone who she trusted. After being rescued by a wood elf, she finds that she is constantly being pursued by people intending to kill her by orders of the one who betrayed her. As she discovers who she truly is, she finds herself falling in love with the elf who saved her life. She is also trying to save the world from being overtaken by an evil king.
I really enjoyed this book. It was really wonderfully written and expressed. I wanted to just keep reading and reading to the very end. There are very few books that can capture my interest from the very beginning. I don't get into most books until a little way through. I got into this book from the first page. I fully encourage anybody who is into fantasies to read this book. I cant wait until the rest of the trilogy is released.

Beloved by Toni Morrison
5.0
I just finished reading Beloved. It is written by Toni Morrison and takes place in Ohio. It's about a woman who is a slave and runs away with her children to a house to live with her mother-in-law. She did it to protect her children and keep them from the life she had. Toni Morrison based this on events she had read about when she was in the publishing industry.
I personally loved this book. This is my second time reading it. I'm glad I took the time to read it a second time because there was so much I missed the first time around. I fully recommend this book to anybody who is into this kind of story line.

Matched by Ally Condie
5.0
I just finished Matched. It is written by Ally Condie. It is about a society that runs everything based on probability and statistics. They match couples together based on who would create the best children. They match people to jobs based on where their skills are the strongest. It goes on from there. However, because of a mess up, they accidentally match a girl to two men. She starts questioning things because of this.
It took me awhile to get into this book, but after I did I didn't want to stop reading it. It was a well written and well thought out book. I kind of got the feeling this trilogy is a mixture of Numbers meets The Giver. If anybody is into that kind of genre, they should definitely check it out. I can't wait to read the rest of this trilogy. I want to find out what happens from here.

At Night We Walk in Circles by Daniel Alarcón
5.0
I just finished reading At Night We Walk In Circles. It was written by Daniel Alarcon. It's about a man who goes to uncover a story about an actor that he idolizes in a way. This actor had everything he wanted in life, or so it would seem. The only thing he didn't have was the woman he loved. In trying to win her back, something happens that ultimately leads to his downfall.
I really enjoyed this book. I highly recommend it to anybody who likes to read books of this particular genre. I especially loved how the author chose to write about everybody's background stories and not just the main characters. I feel like it gave more understanding to the overall story. It made one understand how everything coincided with each other and fit. It made it understandable why the characters were in the book at all. I'm glad I had the opportunity to read this book. It was truly amazing and moving.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
5.0
I just finished reading The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. It's takes place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It's about a boy who's friend commits suicide when he's in middle school, and about his first year of high school. It highlights many of the problems teenagers face. The whole book is written in the format of letters to an unknown person. Possibly even multiple people.
At first, I didn't really like this book. I didn't think it was all that well written. I kept reading it though. I wound up liking it a lot. I found I could even relate to Charlie. I think in a way, a lot of people could relate to him and what he's been through. I think many teenagers should read this book. I think that they may find it helpful in regards to coping.

Beautiful Creatures by Margaret Stohl, Kami Garcia
5.0
I just finished reading Beautiful Creatures. It is written by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. It takes place in a small town in South Carolina. This book is about a caster family who has lived under the curse of being claimed for light or dark on their sixteenth birthday. They do not have a choice in the matter. It is told by a mortal boy who falls in love with one of the members of the family. She falls in love with him too. Together they try to find a way to give her a choice on whether or not she goes light or dark.
I really liked this book. It was very suspenseful to the very end. I also like the deleted scene that was added at the end of the book. It was like they do in some movies. I thought that was pretty impressive. The recipes added were a nice touch too. I've always felt books that can make you feel what the characters are feeling are the best. This is definitely one of those books. I can not wait until I read the rest of this series.
I personally feel that this should have been written in more than one perspective. It was enlightening to see it in Ethan's point of view, but there were times I really would like to have seen Lena's point of view as well. I think it my have added some clarity to the whole story. It would of made the reader understand better. When I first started this book, I couldn't really get into it. I liked it okay, but it wasn't all that interesting. It picked up about midway and got really intense in the ending. I'm glad I stuck it out. I hope the rest of the series keeps picking up.
Honestly I would recommend this book to anybody who is interested in this kind of book. I didn't think I would say that at first. I thought I would give this a mediocre review, but I found myself becoming drawn into the series. I went from thinking it was an okay book to loving the series. I'm sure others will probably feel the same way.

Water from Stone by Katherine Mariaca-Sullivan
5.0
I just finished reading Water From Stone. It is written by Katherine Mariaca-Sullivan. It takes place in Colorado and New York. It's about two different people living in two different places who both lose their spouse due to horrible accidents. One of them is fighting to keep custody of their child, and the others child is kidnapped while their spouse is in the hospital fighting their life. The rest of the book goes into both of their stories and the people involved in their lives.
I wound up loving this book very much. It was very suspenseful and kept me on the edge til the very end. I was rooting for everybody involved. I even rooted for both of them when I was conflicted on some things. I can't give too much away, but I was hoping that something else would have happened. I do love how they leave a certain amount of points open to interpretation. Only in very few cases is this acceptable, and this was one of those cases.
There were a few points that I did not like about this book. I was very confused at the beginning. I feel that maybe they should have been more specific on the time framing. Other than the confusing beginning, I really didn't have any problems with this book. It was very well written. I was surprised I wound up liking it.
I fully recommend this book to anybody who likes to read dramatic books that keep you in suspense until the very end. It's nothing supernatural. It is just a typical every day dramatic and moving story. It is impossible to read this book and not be moved or touched by it. Possibly even both.

Beautiful Darkness by Margaret Stohl, Kami Garcia
5.0
I just finished reading Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. It's about a caster named Lena who has evaded her sixteenth moon claiming by blocking out the moon. This book is about her running away thinking that she is going to turn evil. Ethan doesn't believe she is so he goes to find her and stop her from making a big mistake. It is also about everybody dealing with an important person's death. The death is the reason Lena thinks she is turning evil.
I personally really enjoyed this book. I got hooked on this series about midway through the first book, Beautiful Creatures. I personally feel that Beautiful Darkness was way better and more understandable than Beautiful Creatures was. Maybe that's because of all the explaining in Beautiful Creatures though. This book had a lot of dramatic turns and twists that I never saw coming. I personally loved that. It literally kept me on edge until the very end of the book.
There are a few things I don't like about the book. I personally feel that they passed over a few things that they should of explained better. Also the afterward is in somebody elses' point of view when it's been in Ethan's from the very beginning. That kind of threw me off a bit, and made me wonder if there's a reason behind that. I still think that this series should have been told in both Lena and Ethan's point of view. I think it would have been more dramatic and page turning. That's just my opinion though. I also don't like how Ethan is constantly talking about blue ceilings and carpenter bees. It's funny the first time, but then it just gets really redundant.
I would recommend this book series to any person who is into books about magical people. Especially those types that involve drama and suspense. It's really targeted at a young adult audience, but I think just about anybody would enjoy reading it. However, I do not recommend reading this book until you read Beautiful Creatures. You will not understand what's going on unless you read the first book.
