Enjoyable, liked the main characters, but not sure I'll read any further in the series. I think the timeline gets a little confused at points. But it was a light fun read when I wanted a bit of escapism.

Hello, there are Lumberjacks
I'm just saying.
They aren't myths, they are real.
They cut trees, ride motorcycles, and make pancakes.
Squeeee.
Other than that, it was
sweet, funny, reliable, and steady.
Not super angsty.

After reading some other reviews, I was concerned about this one, primarily because the leading man is with someone else for the first 25% of the book. However, that provided the opportunity for the leading man and leading lady to establish their friendship first in this friends-to-lovers romance.
This story is told from a single point of view, which isn’t abnormal for romance, but what is unique is that it’s told entirely from the man’s perspective. I enjoyed that change-up.
I also really enjoyed this trip to the Pacific Northwest. The author’s descriptive writing made it feel like I was there on the driftwood beaches and temperate rainforests with John and Diane as they fell in love.

Ready to Fall was a heartwarming tell of two people overcoming heartache, guilt, and pain in life to find each other and to give love a chance. John and Diane were both incredible. I greatly appreciated Diane's spunkiness and sass. She was strong despite her past, and it was so refreshing to read a character like her. John Day is SWOOOOONY. A bearded, flannel-wearing lumberjack. Need I say more?
It was lovely to return to Whidbey, to revisit some of the characters I fell in love with in Geoducks are for Lovers, and to watch someone break through John Day's tough exterior.
A fun, easy read.

This is a delightful find. Open door romance set on an island in the Pacific Northwest from the male POV only, which is quite rare. It also takes place over the course of 9 months rather than 9 days. The friendship begins at the beginning of the book rather than something that’s been happening for years. Very refreshing.

Thanks to my Bookworm subscriptions I discovered a new author. Cute love story. Loved John Day. Loved Diane. Wanted more Tom. The only flaw was in me, not that author, because I find it hard to read stories set in my hometown. I was unable to get past the "fiction" of it, the made up places that don't exist there... If that makes any sense.

Brilliant
Absolutely brilliant story that had me giggling and swooning on more than one occasion. A perfect, lovely love story that will leave you with a smile on your face and in your heart.

Oh, John Day. He stole my heart. Wait, no he didn’t steal it because I gladly handed it over. He’s the type of man I would write a poem about that is if I was a poet which I’m not so I’ll just ramble on about how much I love him and his story.
Ready To Fall is the first book by Daisy Prescott that I have read. I don’t know why the crap I haven’t read this book before but I’m sure glad I decided to one-click it because it rocked my world.
I couldn’t put it down. I stayed glued to my couch until I finished reading it. This is a story that does all kinds of things to your heart; one minute it’s racing, the next minute you’ll feel like it’s in your stomach, John Day will make your heart skip beats, and it will break during a few scenes.
The writing is nothing short of amazing. Ready To Fall is told in John Day’s point-of-view and I loved that it was written that way, it made me understand him better and love him more. The characters were likable and relatable.
Ready To Fall sort of reminded me of the Lucky Harbor series by Jill Shalvis, which is one of my all-time favorite series’, because of the vibe and setting. Ready To Fall is a comforting, heart-warming, feel-good book. It’s full of passion, love, and humor. It’s set in a small town also. You feel like you know the characters. These are characters that you want to be friends with.
John Day is a lumberjack and he’s a really nice guy. His neighbor Maggie rents her cabin out to Diane. Diane is a city girl escaping from an ugly divorce and looking for a fresh start. John and Diane become fast friends and their friendship ends up turning into something more. They both have damaged hearts and weren’t looking for a relationship. I loved their dialogue because it was realistic. I loved the pace of their relationship.
Ready To Fall is one of those stories that melts your heart and makes you say, “Ooh la-la.” Or that could just be me. I was smiling and laughing throughout the entire book and when it ended my heart was full of happiness. I’ll never be able to look at beards again without thinking of John Day.
The only thing I didn’t like is that it ended because I don’t think I can ever have enough of this story. I’ll definitely revisit it again in the future.
If you love sweet romances with an alpha male, then this story is for you. If you love heart-warming stories with likable characters, then it’s for you. If you haven’t read Ready To Fall, you need to. This is a story that you will not forget and one that you will re-read over and over again.

Some quotes from Ready To Fall:
“Friends sounded good. Diane fit the mold of one of the summer wives who arrived every Memorial Day, but there was something else about her. Something deeper and maybe wounded tugged at me to be her friend.”
“Because the words weren’t mine yet to say, I had to show her she meant everything to me.”
“I see you giving my sweater the stink eye, mister.”

So while this one was better in the aspect of reading from Johns pov then Geoducks but 50% in, it started to loose my interest. I skimmed the rest of the book to get to the end. The ending kind of seemed dropped off and even till the end it could've ended a few points earlier.

Funny romance
This was a first by this author for me. It was funny and light-hearted most of the time. It did have some serious points but they were placed in a good way to help the characters develop and grow with a backstory.
Diane - is so funny but guarded. I like how she grows as the story progresses. She finds herself and sticks with her newfound beliefs and way of life.
John - he is your typical closed off man. I think the author did a great job of having him change in a way that's subtle but also realistic for a man.
This was told only from John's POV which was okay but I like dual POV. Also I wished there was a bit more with some of the subplots and the resolutions. Some were brief for resolution and I guess I wanted more. I also wasn't inclined to immediately one-click the next in line. This was the main reason for the 4 stars for me.
