It was okay. It was a sweet Pacific Northwest small town romance. Kind of a slow burn. Friends to Lovers. I had a hard time staying interested. It seemed slow to me and not a whole lot happened in the book. It was a very true to life love story. Not a lot of drama, just neighbors to friends to lovers to misunderstanding to HEA.

Ready to Fall is a spin-off from the Modern Love Stories Series and the beginning of the Wingmen Series by one of our most FAVORITE authors, Daisy Prescott! I read Ready to Fall as soon as it came out, but before we started blogging. So, I was excited for the chance to participate in the Wingmen Series Book Tour and remind myself why I love this book and this series!
Beards are totally a thing now, right?!?! I mean you see them EVERYWHERE, (and you don't hear me complaining!) And, I firmly believe that John Day is the original Bearded Book Hero. The OG of Bearded-Hotties. The Father of the Lumberjack Revolution. He's literally a lumberjack with a dog named Babe! John Day is calm, rugged, honest and loyal. He's tough, manly, confident and capable. He's not looking to fall in love.
Diane Watson finds herself on Whidbey Island to heal her damaged spirit and take her life in a new direction. She's sweet and kind and compassionate and determined NOT to fall for the lumberjack-next-door. But, she does need kindness, support and friendship. She finds those attributes in John Day and one thing leads to another.
Ready to Fall is a slow-burn, sweet, butterfly-inducing story of love and healing and diving head-first into a relationship despite every effort to guard your heart from the impact. I adore John and Diane! You get brief glimpses into the lives and loves of their many friends, including the Geoducks gang and a GREAT intro to Tom Cat Donnelly! AND, Whidbey Island feels like a character in the book more than a setting. (Visiting this oasis is now on my bucket list!)
Ready to Fall (and Daisy Prescott) knew bearded heroes before beards were even cool. This book is proof that sweet romance and heart-felt characters never go out of style!
This book received a 4.5 Rating on BFF Book Blog. BFF Book Blog uses an additional set of icon ratings. This book received additional ratings for: sweet, romance, supporting characters, butterflies, character development, hero, and world creation.

Daisy Prescott is one of those authors whose books I always saw around Facebook and Goodreads, but I'd never read. Well, seeing as how she'll be at the Big Apple Author Event in October, I decided it was time to finally read one of her books. I mean, I don't want to pass up the opportunity to meet her — or any other author whose books I'm interested in — because I hadn't gotten around to reading her. She was the first in a decent-sized list of authors I want to read before the signing and, let's be honest, if I enjoy everyone else's books as much as I did hers... well, this is going to be an expensive (and fun) event for me!
I love a good rom com, especially when it's told from the male POV. Not everyone can nail that, but Daisy definitely did. I was a big fan of lumberjack John. *swoons* And Diane was pretty darn great herself. I loved the chemistry between these two, but loved most of all that there wasn't even a hint of instalove here. Instead, these characters got to know each other and things developed from there. I enjoyed the humor and the banter between them as things progressed.
Ready to Fall was a quick and easy read that I really enjoyed. I laughed and swooned my way through the book, enjoying the characters, the romance and, honestly, everything about it. My first Daisy Prescott book was a hit! Now I just have to make the time to read some of the rest of her backlist before October... wish me luck!
FAVORITE QUOTES
"Be friendly. Bring her fish. Chop some wood for her. Take off your shirt and give her a show while you do it. She might be anti-love, but no woman is anti-eye candy."
"I'm the whole fantasy. Beard. Brawn. Wholesome."

I really liked this book, it seems that John was hell bent on choosing the wrong women. That is until he met the lovely Diane. It took a bit for John to fall, but once he did, he fell hard for Diane. Lovely book!

What happens when you take a divorcee who’s sworn off the “L” word and plop her next to a determined bachelor? Why, they make a pact to be friends….just friends, of course! And we all know how well those work out.
Diane Watson has come to the island as a retreat from her acrimonious divorce from her philandering husband. She wants nothing to do with relationships, love—any of it. So when her handsome lumberjack neighbor offers to show her around, she makes him make a pact. John Day is a bearded, flannel wearing alpha male and the ladies flock to him. In the past he’s hasn’t minded the attention, he’s not the relationship type. So when a pretty divorcee that’s renting his neighbor’s cabin instigates a friendship pact, he sees nothing wrong with it.
I adore Daisy Prescott’s books. They always have the perfect mixture of humor, romance and heat. I can never put one down once I pick it up and this one was no different. I also can’t get enough of her men. They are all ladies’ men or relationship clumsy in some way but also so endearingly adorable that you just can’t help but fall in love with them. This is a feel-good romance. It’s curling up with a cup of cocoa on a cold day, wearing a hoodie for the first time in fall, that kind of feel good. The characters are relatable, the setting is spectacular and the writing is superb. If you’re looking for a sweet romance that’s guaranteed to make you smile and keep you smiling, one-click Ready to Fall today.

This book made me laugh and feel all warm and tingly inside, like how the movie The Notebook would.
The plot of a lumberman and a city girl kind of worried me because I thought it would be cliché and corny but it was totally the opposite. The personalities of John and Diane were fantastic and the chemistry between them was fantastic! I love the sarcastic banter/flirting because it's similar to my personality as well.
Overall great book, and a very easy read!

I really liked Happy Trail by Daisy Prescott so of course I wanted to read her Wingman series.
John and Diana were cute and this book served as good introduction to series.
Can't wait to continue with series.
