I'm actually so sad that I didn't end up loving this.

The first 30% of this were insanely good. I was hooked from page 1, giggled over the banter, and was already their number 1 shipper. I was so invested and loved every second of it.

However, the miscommunication - or should I say not communicating AT ALL - entirely ruined this for me. I couldn't bear reading "I wanted to tell her...but I didn't know how, so I just ended up saying nothing at all" one more time.

They're grown up full blown adults and yet they decided to act like immature 10 year olds who think being toxic is cool and badass. Acknowledging you've hurt someone's feelings and still refusing to apologize is not hot and sexy. It's toxic.

How was the entire book just them not talking? The ending absolutely didn't make up for it and felt sooo rushed. From one second to the other, you guys admit you're in love with each other and just forget about all the drama and miscommunication? Alright. The whole book dragged on forever just for the ending to be rushed.

This is not a slow burn romance. This is two adults ignoring each other until one day they fuck.

This book eminenty became one of my new all time favorites.

If you want a fun action packed book that feels like a movie with a humorous cast of characters, this is the book for you.

It truly felt like watching a mix of Guardians of the Galaxy and Oceans 8. Reading it just was one of the most enjoyable and fun experiences I ever had.

While the plot elements are your very stereotypical heist movie ones, the execution just made this work flawlessly. The cast of characters is so fun and lovable, you just have to enjoy the ride with them.

I'll absolutely pick this book up again for a reread whenever I just need a book to make me laugh and be fun and quick. And you should pick this up as well!

"Language was always the companion of empire, and as such, together they begin, grow, and flourish. And later, together, they fall."

This was insane. Regardless of this book being a brick, I flew through it. R.F. Kuangs writing style is just so immersiv you'll find yourself unable to put this down.

The world and its meaning tied together with an important message Kuang created blew my mind away and had me thinking about it nonstop.

And of course in true R.F. Kuang passion, I went through every emotion known to man kind in the span of this book. So gut-wrenching, yet so beautiful. I can't stop going back to this book in my mind even after finishing it.

This book is the equivalent of a car crash: Absolutely horrible but you can’t stop reading it.
The characters are horrible and not in a nice morally grey character way. Everyone acts unbelievably unreasonable and way too over dramatic. A lot of things that happened merely happened for some tension and the failed attempt of a shock factor. The characters were so unlikeable and annoying I could have not cared less for anything that happened to them. Even though you were clearly supposed to feel bad for Adam and Sarah and root for justice.
The thriller aspect of this book wasn’t well done either. The ending was horribly rushed and the supposedly mind blowing plot twist wasn’t shocking at all. On top of that we learned more about Adams d!ck then anything relating the murder. The amount of times he randomly kissed or even fucked a woman, made me question if I really was reading a thriller and not some desperate fuck boy story. Not to mention the fact that Adam was trying sooo hard to be some kind of alpha male.
However I gotta give the book the credit that it entertained me well. Everything was so random and badly written that it made me laughed and kept me reading. If you wanna have a goof funny hate read I recommend this book. If you’re actually looking for a good thriller and enjoyable read I definitely encourage you to pick up any other book but not this one.
How to Justify Torture: Inside the Ticking Bomb Scenario by Alex Adams

This was a pretty interesting phylosphical text about morality, specifically in terms of the ticking bomb scenario.
I really liked the approach and found this to be well explained but in an interesting way.
My only issue with this was that the introduction already introduced all arguments and explained them as well. So more than half of the book was simply about finding a dozen of dozen of the same examples from different media's like movies or books to prove the authors point. Since he only had the same 3 arguments, which I was familiar with since page 10 and agreed with from the beginning, the explanations could become a bit boring and felt dragged out. I didn't always need 10 movies to prove that it's common in media.
Nevertheless, a very interesting read.
