I can’t believe how many random characters get thrown at you, but it works. Deep callbacks to things two or three books ago make you feel crazy for a second, then the threads start to intertwine. Rapid fire pace for a lot of the book. Jumping everywhere. Should be a mess, but comes together nicely. A beautiful, chaotic mess.

A vast improvement from the previous installment.

I'm a little sad this story is over. This may not be the best book of the series, but I still enjoyed it. The storyline was quite fragmented, the pieces coming together to form a complete picture. Some things you could see a mile ahead, some other took you by surprise.

This was painfully long. Some bits were getting really boring. Definitely the weakest of all Witcher books I've read.

3 stars for a couple of very powerful scenes but this one is bad, fam. It’s horribly paced, what feels like a climax happens before a hundred pages of mostly blabber and multiple levels of timeline jumping are absolutely unnecessary. And then there’s the ending… It never fails to disappoint. Even though I know exactly what’s coming, it’s still so underwhelming and, simply put, frustrating that every single time I’ve read it, I had to walk it off.

I can appreciate the riddle of Emhyr’s decision in this one, that makes the overall trainwreck a bit better. And the long chapter with battle description that doesn’t fall into the trap of making war sexy like some breeds of modern fantasy unfortunately do.

Officially the last of the Witcher series, this book ties together the threads of destiny for Ciri, Yennifer and Geralt. Although some parts felt a bit like drawing out the story without purpose, overall I enjoyed this book a lot. I like where the story refers back to decisve moments in the previous book to show the motivation of the characters. The end is a bit too soppy for my taste, but hey, I'm not mad about it.
Kind of sad to leave these characters here. All in all a good series, very wel read by narrator Peter Kenny.

This is not a good end; instead it’s an incomprehensible, overly long conclusion to the series with some completely pointless digressions. We still have to experience the author making up exposition characters to explain the garbled politics of the world, every single male character who isn’t Geralt wants to sexually assault every woman he sees, and the women are screechy and bad tempered. There’s a bizarre world hopping section at the beginning, an incredibly long battle with no major characters in the middle and a truly depressing conclusion to the war. Finally, there’s still a lot about how cool Ciri’s horse is. I’m only glad I was running a fever for the last few hours because wow, they dragged. Done. And done.

I absolutely LOVED this book up until about 75%…

The beginning and middle were amazing. I love the action with the battle scenes from the war, Ciri trying to find her way home, and how the characters that we have met through out the past books are making an appearance and coming full circle in their story.
What I didn’t like was the last 25%.

I felt like the big plot of the saga was concluded and thennn….. we still had 200 pages left of side characters getting their resolution. I was so uninterested at that point.
