The tale of a mothers determination to find the truth about why her daughter is in a coma, The Accident is a novel that you could very easily read in one sitting. A very unsettling, chilling diary account of Sue's relationship with James and the events that led to Charlotte's suicide attempt reel you in and makes it impossible to put down.
A very clever psychological thriller that I would definitely recommend to people who love this genre.
Thanks to the author and the publisher for the copy via NetGalley

This is the second book I've read by this author and I very much enjoyed The Accident as I did The Lie.
The Accident gripped me right from the start. This is a fast paced thriller that by the end leaves you feeling breathless.
The story itself flicks between present day and the main character Sue's past. Due to Sue's daughter Charlotte's questionable accident that has left her in a coma, Sue retraces her daughter's steps to try and find out what happened in the lead up to the accident. Only problem is, is that no one seems to want to share their knowledge of events to help Sue find the answers she so desperately needs. Not only does Sue have enough to deal with, with her family, she also has started to get items posted through her door which brings back unpleasant memories from her past.
A dark chilling read that hooks you straight away. There are quite a few twists and turns that has the reader on the edge of the seat in anticipation of what the outcome is going to be.
Yet another fantastic read by C.L Taylor.

The Accident takes place in the UK, around the early 2010s, and centres around Susan, whose daughter, Charlotte, is currently in a coma after being hit by a bus. Although it was believed to be an accident, Susan uncovers something in Charlotte’s diary that leads her to believe otherwise.
I actually found this book on the train, through a “Books on the Rail” initiative, and took the book home with me. It was an easy read, and I finished it in a little over a day. In addition, it was a gripping psychological thriller, which made it easier to finish. I felt that some parts were predictable, however it was interesting enough for me to finish. I’d recommend this book to people who enjoy psychological thrillers, particularly those that are easy to read.

I was interested enough to finish The Accident but it never really sparked anything. The twists were formulaic, the characters were mostly dull and (although some of the situations were truly horrible and/or life threatening) it never made my heart beat faster. I was never on the edge of my seat, desperate to know what happened and when the twists came it was more 'of course it was' than 'what?! No?!'
Plot twists can be addictive but I feel like I've read a lot of the same ones over and over and over. Come on literature, stun me

Sue Jackson’s life turns upside down when her daughter steps in front of a bus: only this wasn’t any accident. Sue begins to unravel the mystery of her daughter’s movements over the last few months and starts to find out what was going on in her daughter’s life.
I loved Sue. Driven to protect her daughter and her family, Sue is a believable mother written in an instantly likeable way. But Sue’s life hasn’t always been perfect, she’s made mistakes, and her past tale is beautifully interwoven with the present day narrative. This duality made it even more difficult to put the book down as there was always two plot strands that demanded to be read.
James, one of Sue’s ex-boyfriends is created exceptionally well. Scenes with James really lept of the page.
The story flowed with a breathless denouement that left me cheering for Sue.
I’d definitely recommend this book and look forward to reading more from C. L. Taylor.

I read this on my June quest for thriller/mystery novels. Still yet to find something outstanding. This was just okay.
Susan Jackson’s 15 year old daughter steps in front of a bus and is fighting for her life in hospital. The story very quickly becomes about the mother’s quest to discover why her daughter did this and how she can fix all her problems. It’s also told through a series of flashbacks every chapter or so of Susan’s past relationship when she was living in London. She was in an extremely mentally and then physically abusive relationship with one of the worst male characters I’ve ever read about. He is honestly horrific. It became really difficult to read because it just started to get gradually more horrible each time there was a new flashback and I was actually starting to dread reading them.
I thought this was an okay thriller - again, I guessed the twist so that was a bit of a let-down and I’m in serious need of a thriller where I don’t actually guess what is going to happen! It wouldn’t be first on my recommendations list but I’m happy I read it.

Very good story about the all to familiar scenario of 'violent man swears vengeance on his woman' - kept me hooked though, would recommend

Very gripping. The twist pops up about two thirds of the way through, but is carried out well (if predictably). No lingering ending, just a clean line drawn under the incident.
