I've never had a bad book from Steve Cavanagh and this book did not disappoint! The discussion of the threat posed by white supremacy and also the use of the death penalty was really interesting to me. The tension was great and I had to pick up my jaw a few times! Loved every second!

It's not often that a book develops characters that I hate or hope something extremely bad happens to them, but this book was able to accomplish that. In this book, everybody associated with the justice system in rural Alabama made me dislike them because they were framing a murder on a quiet black man just so they could create their hate filled agenda against minorities.

It's safe to say that I should just give Steve Cavanaugh all my money and just let him send books to me

Eddie Flynn does it again! Another 5 star read for the lawyer with more tricks up his sleeve than a magician.

This time Eddie and his newly formed team has to defend a young man and save his life by proving his innocence. The cards are all stack against them, from a town who isn't welcoming them in, to the police who is more dirty than the criminals, to the district attorney who is more involved to the cases he convict that he should.

A serial killer is hiding in plain sight and the whole town is more than happy to accuse a young black man than to look into what really happened the night the young woman was murdered.

This is a heavy book, it deals with racism, corruption and it shows that bad side of a close minded small town.

As in all of the books in the series, the ones I have read that is, the turns and twists are keep on coming and I couldn't figure out who the real killer was. If you like murder mysteries with focus on the trial, you won't want to miss this one.
