a solid super edition, though not as connected to them compared to the cats in the forest! i don't quite have favorites in skyclan like i do in the others, but their story is still super interesting and i love how they adapt the warrior code for their own way of life. a still-enjoyable re-read but now on to the new prophecy arc 🤩

i love leafstar but she’s sooo passive the whole ass book. She’s constantly complaining abt sharpclaw deciding things but barely speaks or makes decisions throughout the book. I wish the erins had made her more girlboss bc the base was there. Of course it’s also Sharpclaw’s fault for undermining his leader but come on

I listened to all of this in one day (I really love MacLeod Andrews!) but I'm not super invested in skyclan in general. I like sharpclaw, but leafstar really bothered me for most of this book. It was an interesting idea to bring in a bit of a second pov, but it all built to something that had very obviously coming the whole book. Ah, but they're books for kids! I hear you say. Here's something I love reminding people: kids aren't dumber, they're just younger. Little Jess would've figured it out as fast as adult Jess did.
Some of the ideas/ways of clan life were really different here, and I was interested to see it all play out. The same petty drama though, and the same super fast "romance" as the four clans we already know. (it really was nice to have a break from the forbidden love with a cat in another clan thing, though). It was a whole lot of nothing happening for over 400 pages then tons of action in the last 20 or so. I truly didn't care about the battle at the end, but if I had, it would've felt anticlimactic anyway.
To be fair to this book, I'm catching up on the supplemental stories and I did very recently read firestar's quest so 🥹🥰 I shouldn't compare the super editions against each other (it might've been written by a different Erin anyway!), but I can't help it when reading them so close together.

This is the first Warrior's I had to give less than 4 stars. Majority of the book is just general clan scuffles full of weirdly prominent kitty pet prejudice (besides half of skyclan originally being kitty-pets??), cat sexism (different expectations and restrictions for female clan leaders vs male ones), and no real plot until the last 6-7 chapters??
I wanted to like this one as much as the other books, but it felt so messy and with no clear idea of what they wanted the reader to get out of the story.
It wasn't all bad, but definently didn't have enough good parts for me to give it the extra star

It feels as though the Erins Hunter heard my complaint that intra-Clan drama is much more entertaining than inexplicably evil animals such as rats or badgers, because this super edition certainly delivers what I love most! The conflicts within SkyClan about daylight-warriors and rogues were intriguing, and I like the question about how important it is to take on a warrior name. (I am firmly of the opinion that Billystorm and Harveymoon are adorable names. I MUCH prefer those to loners named simply Stick or Egg.) The resolution with Sharpclaw, however, left me disappointed, and I sometimes feel as though the characters jump from one emotional state to another without a clear journey in between. (For example, Leafstar distrusts her deputy for plot purposes during the majority of the book, then he explains that everything is fine near the end, and suddenly she's happy with his leadership. Shouldn't they have to work more for a resolution, if not to convince Leafstar than to convince readers?) The drama with the rogues shocked me (Stick, Red, Coal, etc.), because there was so much to unpack, yet it was only glossed upon, and the SkyClan cats left at the most interesting moment. I appreciate this genre of conflict, but I wish more time had been devoted to the climax and resolution, since there was so much suspense leading up to it. As it was, things felt a little anti-climactic after everything was said and done, although I suppose I'm mostly content with where Leafstar ended the story. Her decision to lead her Clan according to her own rules and interpretations of the Warrior Code is a very good look on her!

First off I would like to start by saying the Audiobook voiced by Macleod Andrews is good and he made Waspwhisker sound like Willem Dafoe.
I enjoyed seeing how kittypets and loners were included in clan life throughout the story. Seeing Leafstar again as leader was very enjoyable, but it got tedious when she doubted herself and questioned her decisions on every other page. Billystorm is a neat little character that I love. My baby Shrewtooth you didn't deserve all that horrible stuff that happened to you king I love you.
The book, however, seemed to be very very jam-packed full of large conflicts happening in such a short period. It gave off the impression that the book was meant to originally be a series of its own but as they didn't have enough ideas or time they jammed it all into this one. Also, Sharpclaw being weirdly mysterious for no reason other than just cause he wanted to test Leafstar was very funny (though it wasn't meant to be). Spottedleaf need to get out of these damn books already I am sick of seeing her name and smelling her "sweet scent" I'm done with that lass and if she continues to pop up I will not be a happy cat. Also, I hope the Hunter's move on from the phrase "from ears to tail tip" because it got hell repetitive hell fast.
