Warriors: Skyclan's Destiny is another great addition to the Warriors series. Different from many in the series, the focus is on conflict in the clan and within themselves instead of battles. From the very beginning, Leafstar develops issues trusting her clanmates and a big gap develops between the full-time warriors and the daylight warriors (cats who are warriors during the day, but sleep with humans). Sharpclaw, Leafstar's deputy, oftentimes challenges her on the subject and leads to more personal issues within Leafstar. Though there are a few dry periods, the plot is kept interesting by a mysterious group of four cats that randomly join the clan.

The four cats prove themselves by greatly assisting in a battle against a swarm of rats, which is coincidentally one of Skyclan's greatest fears. The battle unites the clan slightly, but distress is still clear. It isn't until the end of the book that the Skyclan cats manage to feel completely united again and Leafstar is trusting. This book makes strong use of character development to make the reader feel emotionally attached to the characters. However, it can be boring at times due to a small amount of plot twists and battles.

SkyClan's Destiny follows on from Firestar's Quest, another Warriors Super Edition. Note: You have to read Firestar's Quest first or it will not make sense.

The Clan's leader, Leafstar, is trying to keep her Clan strong and united as well as trying to recruit new members from the Twolegplace nearby and other loners. When she accepts 'daylight-warriors' into the Clan, (cats who sleep in the Twolegplace at night and stay with the Clan during the day), the cats of SkyClan are divided on this decision. Leafstar believes that her Clan should not turn down any cat while her deputy Sharpclaw believes that they are still kittypets at heart and will never truly belong in the Clan.

As Leafstar gets a prophecy from StarClan telling her the Clan needs deeper roots, she starts to worry that this split in the Clan could lead to the demise of the new SkyClan. All of a sudden, four strange cats come to the Clan, claiming their interest in learning the ways of the Clan. Their names are Shorty, Stick, Coal and Cora.

Later, though, it is revealed they have no intentions in joining the Clan for good. A cat named Dodge and his friends Misha and Harley, along with a band of loners and Stick's daughter Red, have been driving cats out of their own hunting grounds and framing them for the loss of Twoleg pets. Stick wants the Clan to help them drive out Dodge's cats but doesn't want to hurt his daughter in the process.

The Clan cats agree after receiving an omen from StarClan and it is soon revealed that Stick wants more than to drive the cats out. He wants them dead, and he wants to start with Dodge. He believes that Dodge's friend Harley is responsible for Red leaving her father and that he is lying to her and he doesn't love her.

In his rage, Stick slits Red's throat before he thought about what he was doing and nothing could be done to safe her. The Clan cats then left to go back to their home and Stick and his friends could go back to theirs too.

This book is good if you like the Warriors series (it won't make much sense otherwise) and lets you see the progress of SkyClan and its new leader that you don't see in the other books in the series as they focus mainly on the Clans in the forest.

It doesn't matter when you read Firestar's Quest or SkyClan's Destiny in relation to the series as they are freestanding but I would recommend to read them after the first series as you learn about Firestar and you don't ruin some surprises from throughout the series.

After loving Firestar’s Quest, I was a bit disappointed by this one. The pacing is very slow and the story is rather…boring. It’s more of a slice-of-life collection of short stories rather than one overarching plot. However, I really enjoyed reading from Leafstar’s perspective. She’s a great character and I love her clever insight and strong resolve. I do wish she was a bit harder on the characters that wronged her and wasn’t so forgiving.

The main things I can say about this book are that it was a bit too slice-of-life for the Warriors series for it to maintain interest and the 'drama' of the book was either not that necessary for the plot or didn't have a dramatic enough buildup to make it as gripping as the main storyline has done in the past. The tenseness between Leafstar and Sharpclaw also had quite a short and disappointing conclusion. The writing itself wasn't bad and there were a few characters who I felt connections to although they didn't have as much time for development as those in the other four clans, but this story overall was a bit boring and didn't feel too relevant other than to let readers know that SkyClan is still around.

Jedna z najlepszych super edycji. Kocham ją za to, że jest inna niż pozostałe. Jest tak spokojnie i szczęśliwie (nie licząc końcówki). Kocham takie książki.

Definatly one of the hardest books in this series. About three times longer, too.
