I had a very hard time finishing this series. It just wasn't for me. This last book wraps things up finally, but there are very large chunks of the book that honestly I would have cut out cause they don't add anything to the main story.

I don't know how I feel about this right now; I'm overwhelmed by the feeling of Geralt because I love him so much from the begining of this journey and I'm a Witcher fan so that's why I really don't know how to describe how I felt right now without giving any spoiler.

So this book obviously about Geralt trying to save Ciri and it's place after long time they settled because the lady of the lake aka Nimue and her apprentice Condwiramurs Tilly tells the story mostly, the war time doesn't over yet and Toussaint covered with snow and storms (if you played the game you know Toussaint never been under snow in the game because it place after everything over I'm guessing by the book I finished just now).

This book was a satisfying end to the series. While it still had a few minor slow parts, it was much more plot-based than some of the others that were focused more on world building and character development and seemed to progress by mere inches.

The whole thing isn't very good, but the first quarter following a
future sorceress-researcher is silly. Tying this into the Arthurian legend
is stupid and annoyed me immediately. Having the Battle of Brenna be retold via a random surgeon is baffling. The ending deaths have no impact, as they play out like they are being checked off a to-do list. Geralt and Yennefer agreeing
to commit suicide so that Ciri can be forced into an incestuous relationship with her own father is so out of character for them--literally the whole series they risk their lives for her and tons of people die, and now they are fine with this scenario? And if it's true that they all get to leave because Ciri cried...really?

This seems like a fever dream, not related to the series thus far. Pretty bad. Why am I even reading this?

Also, I tried the audiobook and Peter Kenney is the most obnoxious fuck I've ever heard. His over emphasis on random parts of sentences and ridiculous voices (especially his obscene feminine and gasping creature voices) make me want to vomit. It's the equivalent of an annoying child doing a line reading that no one likes, but the child's parents tell him he's doing an amazing job. I got 20% in before I couldn't take it anymore and waited for the e-book to become available from my library.

There is like half of a good book here. I just feel like the first half. Well the first have of the Ciri storyline was very scattered. Like a King Arthur narrative starts and different world. It was just unneeded. That said everything else was solid.

Overall the Witcher series wasn’t bad. I have one more book that is all short stories left. But if you were wanted the games from the books. The books are not the games. If that makes sense.
