This book was hilarious.
Actually really enjoyed this take on The Nutcracker, or as my husband affectionately (and perhaps more accurately) nicknamed it, The Ballbuster. Definitely going to read the sequel.

“Men are going to look at you that way whether you like it or not. You can fret and stew about it, or you can turn it into power.”
A court of Sugar and Spice follows the journey of Clara and Louisa. The two sisters are stuck in the custody of their father's friend until they marry and can receive their inheritence. They pretty quickly learn that their father's friend has more than his share of secrets, and when a drop of Louisa's blood falls onto a nutcracker doll, he comes to life and leads them on the adventure of a lifetime.
What I loved: Clara and Finn stole the show for me. Their relationship was sweet in a steamy way, and I was constantly rooting for them to end up together.
Close runner up would be the world building and descriptions of the monsters. I don't know how she does it, but Kenney just describes monsters in a way that makes it feel like they are breathing over my shoulder.
Why only 4 stars? Louisa. I am just never a big fan of cheaters, and I struggled to believe that Louisa actually changed her ways for the nutcracker prince.
Who would I recommend this book to? Someone looking for the perfect, spicy holiday read. Seriously. Kenney's stuff, to me, runs on the spicier side of romance, and this book falls pretty within the range of the other works of hers that I've read. Perfect for a cold winter's night and a hot cup of cocoa.

All the right kind of Christmas Spice
This was “delicious” to say the least. I enjoyed everything about it. The characters were phenomenal. The story kept me going. And the spice, good lord…

Want to land yourself on the naughty list just in time for Christmas? Read this book.
“Spice” is definitely in the title for a reason. This was a dark and extra spicy Nutcracker retelling. And a seriously fun read! I really enjoyed Rebecca Kenney’s writing. Wonderful world-building, full of decadently vivid imagery. I was immediately immersed in this Faerie world!
While seriously spicy, I liked that the sex scenes didn’t take over the entirety of the story. The plot itself was still engaging and action-packed. I was never bored. And the characters were great too. I especially liked Fin. Learning why they call him the Sugarplum Faerie… omg hahahah. I will say Louisa was my least favorite and she irked me quite a bit.
Romance-wise, we get two love stories! We see some instalove, which isn’t always my favorite, but I think it worked really well here! We also have enemies to lovers, which is my favorite trope in the history of tropes… but, I did feel like it lacked that ✨ tension ✨ I normally love from it here. Regardless, I still enjoyed both blossoming romances!
Overall, this was a fast-paced, deliciously spicy, and magical read! Definitely a perfect read for the holiday season!

This was a fine listen. The story was interesting and the spice was good. Probably would only recommend to people seeking this type of book. The story was well developed. It's spicy - sex is a frequent topic.

Not the right season to read it. I’m already finishing two Christmas themed books right now and I think I’ll save this one for next year.

I think this may have been the cringiest thing I've ever read. I love the story of the nutcracker, so I wanted to love this. I couldn't do it, the plot isn't good and the spicy does not make up for it

I have to be honest... I'm not really even sure what I read here. This was a lot darker than I was anticipating and overall, that's not for me. I thought it was going to be more romantasy which sounded fun. And sure, it did have elements of that, but a lot of the content was just completely off the wall even for me who loves fantastical worlds. I did a lot of laughing throughout my reading, but mostly because there was just so much ridiculousness going on here. I sincerely doubt I'll read any more in the series.
