I feel like this was more of an in between book, leading up to all the big plot points. There wasn’t a lot of new information revealed and I’m dying to know who and what Jerrico Barrons is!? Mac seems to be getting more confident with her abilities and totally kicked butt toward the end. Also V’lane has appeared only for a brief time in these last two books but I’ve already fell for him ❤️

I'm curious about the mystery. The worldbuilding is really good. The two main characters are still as awful as ever. I'll give it one more book, two tops, before I just call it quits and look up the rest of the plot online.

The fae are my least favorite paranormals to read about although I can't explain why and I almost always seem to struggle through books about them. What keeps me reading this series is Mac & Barrons. I love the relationship between the two but I find Barrons endlessly fascinating. It's almost pathetic to admit, but the plot only interests me when it directly involves him. If you like the fae, you'll probably love the series...I'm just sticking it out for Barrons :)

Yes! I liked this one much better than the first one. Much less foreshadowing (and to greater effect), and Mac gained quite a bit substance as she continues to grow up. The series has sucked me in and shows no signs of letting me go anytime soon. The author still transplants American concepts to Ireland that grate a little bit (Irish drivers licenses do not show height or weight, and if they did, it wouldn't be in lbs.), but didn't diminish reading pleasure at all. Also, Barrons told Mac that the Voice doesn't work over the phone, but supposedly convinced her father that everything was fine when he called... Who knows, another explanation might pop up. Barrons is often an overbearing, borderline-abusive jerk, but their relationship is still a lot of fun, especially as Mac learns to hold her own against him. And V'Lane needs to learn that arousal doesn't effing equal consent!!! I have faith that Mac will teach him eventually. She is rapidly evolving from a whiny, spoiled, TSTL girly girl into a kick-ass heroine who is a player in her own right, holding her own counsel, making hard decisions, and developing her skills and knowledge. I am enjoying this series tremendously.
