Somewhere in the middle the story lost my interest. The conclusion left a bitter taste in my mouth, and while I applaud and appreciate topics that Wells has brought up (especially for his times), I can't help but feel the disdain behind some of the ideas.

4.5 stars really, but can't do that here. Absolutely gripping and emotional. Even though it was short, the main characters are well flashed out and every one of them seems like a person, not just a character for character's sake.

Wow! Just finished this masterpiece and feel almost giddy. This book feels like ordering a well cooked steak and instead being served with five-course feast! Even if you have a hard time following or understanding political satire, the Pontius Pilate and titular Master and Margarita stories are brilliant and captivating on their own, but also everything is connected to everything. Absolutely recommend it!

It's strange to think how much I enjoyed this, when I absolutely despise The Trial. It's not often for me that an author can cause such polarising opinions about them. I guess I have to read more Kafka...

Updating rating to 4 stars, because the last pages made me actually cry and it's very rare for a book to make me tear up, let alone to make me cry. There's some hidden beauty and comfort in this book that is difficult to explain.
