Did you watch The Shape Of Water and think, "I wish this was more gay"? Then this is the perfect book for you. I had so much fun reading this. The romance is sweet, the setting is super interesting, and the found family was so amazing. Honestly, anyone who knows me isn't surprised by how much I loved the found family here. The dynamics are unique and so real. The characters are so believable and somehow relatable despite the fantastical elements of the story. Benny was a great narrator, and I felt immersed into his POV. His character is layered, and the intersectionality of his identity (being Puerto Rican and gay in the early 20th century) was really interesting to see how it affected aspects of the story and his experiences. It felt real, raw, and genuine. His relationship development with Río was so endearing. I loved watching it evolve throughout the story alongside Benny's own personal character development. All in all, this was a great read. The writing is great, the story is amazing, and the characters are super well done. And that ending?! It really worked for me. It was somehow both very vague but also super specific. This is definitely worth checking out.

I really love this series, and I'm so sad it's now come to an end. The universe of Augury Univeristy is so interesting and vibrant, I could read so many more books based in this world. The writing is so well characters are diverse and very well written, and the story really keeps you interested. This installment was a good addition to this world, while also feeling a little different from the other books. This one felt slightly disconnected from the other three in that the characters are more acquaintances than friends with the previous MCs of this series for most of the story, while the others had been longtime friends before the series even began. That said, I still enjoyed the dynamics here. Wren and Zinnia were so sassy, and the banter was so much fun, and I loved seeing the friendships that grew amongst them both and the other characters of this series. I also really enjoyed the little treats we got from Wren when they discussed their identity. It felt really real and relatable despite being based in a fantasy setting. All in all, I really enjoyed this one and had so much fun, but I will say that I don't think any of the couples will be able to surpass Indy and Vega. Those two are definitely my favorites! Either way, this is so worth checking out!

For starters, as a debut novel, this was very good! The story is sweet and intriguing, the characters are loveable and interesting, and the writing is pretty good. Both our MCs, Arrick and Evan, worked very well together, and I enjoyed seeing their relationship progression and their individual character development. I will say, at times, Arrick's secretive history felt a little convoluted at times, and it took a while before we got the whole story. So, it made some points a little confusing. I'm all for a mystery reveal and getting little clues along the way, but I think it could have been executed more effectively than it was. That said, this was still a super enjoyable story, and that ending really has me looking forward to the next book!
