Teach Me by Alexandria House
4.0
I loved this book. It was funny when it needed to be, sexy when it should have been, and serious when the time called for it. Ms. House actually pulled me out of my reading funk. Nadia and Nathan were very cute together and I loved the way their relationship progressed.
I didn't really like the Dominate/sub relationship as Nadia kept topping from the bottom by intentionally breaking rules. However, that took nothing away from the story. My fave character was Nadia's father. He made me laugh so hard.
All-in-all, I give this book 4-pages (think 4-stars_.

Love, Trust, & Pleasure by Kai Leakes
5.0
Black on black on black! Black love is in abundance in Kai Leakes newest release, Love, Trust & Pleasure. This is the first book in her Brothers of Kemet (BOK) series. Let me just go ahead and let you guys know that the further along this series gets, the more you’re going to love the men you meet. I have my fave, but let me get into this review.
Kai Leakes gave us everything romance in this book. Kwame is tall, dark and handsome in every sense of the word. We learn early on that he is still grieving the loss of his wife. Throughout the novel, Kai Leakes does a great job of showing this without making it the focal point of why Kwame is who he is. He’s a business man who is about the business of making sure any woman on his list gets all the pleasure she can handle and then some.
Meanwhile, Karma is on the other side of town dealing with a whole mess of a man. I refuse to even mention that clown’s name. If ever there was a definition of a f*ck boy, Karma’s man was it. He takes the whole darn cake when it comes to being the worst thing that could ever happen to a woman. Not only that, Karma’s job has gone up in smoke! Luckily for her, she knows someone who knows someone who knows Kwame…
What I love about Love, Trust & Pleasure is that, while sparks do fly when Kwame lays eyes on Karma, it’s definitely not what you’re thinking. I love that this wasn’t a love-at-first-sight story and that the characters had to work their way to that. Karma did some stuff in this book that made me wonder if she liked going through bullcrap for the sake of going through bullcrap. Some of the things she did got a heavy side-eye from me. That was my only issue with her character.
This book gave us romance, love, lust, a sprinkle of side-eye worthy moments, with a whole lot of pleasure!
All-in-all, I give Love, Trust & Pleasure four-and a half-pages (think four-and a half-stars).

The Poison Garden by A.J. Banner

Interesting, but confusing and bland.
This story had a great premise, but then things got confusing and kind of never got back on track. I'm still kind of not sure what happened.

It was a pretty dope read
I enjoyed this novella. Although I felt some parts were repetitive, it flowed well. I loved the Black love between the pages.
