In the third Hell's Bells book, Knockout 💥 lives up to its name. In this witty, steamy, emotionally charged, feminist romance novel, readers finally see Lady Imogen & Detective Inspector Tommy Peck find their 💥 explosive [😉] Happily Ever After, while creating ‘constructive’ & explosive 🧨 chaos across London.
As always, Nora Roberts has written a well balanced suspense novel, taking the reader on a suspenseful ride, while also telling a story about a woman finding her place in the world after she returns home <when she becomes a serial killer’s target>. With characters who you would like as friends (most of them), you will go on an emotional roller coaster, experiencing everything from grief, fear, worry, love, humor, tenderness, & everything in between. <Identity has 2 plots —1st: Morgan rebuilding her life after the murder & 2nd: catching the killer.>

While the book’s characters are not racially or ethnically diverse, one of the main plot lines involves a chronic health issue. Rarely do the main characters have a health issue that is central to their life choices or (annoyingly) not miraculously cured by love. Reading a story in which 2 regular people, overcome common problems, fall in love in such a witty & believable way was incredibly refreshing —sans billionaires, magic, & murder. Of course, the light roasting of HGTV shows (& possibly a particular star couple), which I do enjoy, made Honey-Don’t List a fun, fast, frolicking read.
Signe Pike’s Lost Queen & The Forgotten Kingdom tell the entrancing story Queen Languoreth of Strathclyde & her brother & Celtic religious leader, Lailoken. While a work of fiction, Ms. Pike’s years of research means that she is able to tell a rich & vivid story that returns Languoreth & Lailoken to history. Languoreth was a powerful 5th-6th century queen whose story has been lost to time. Name & life rewritten, Lailoken became Myrdden (Merlin), a significant character in the Arthurian legends. Ms. Pike writes 2 fascinating & engrossing novels that invoke the chaotic world of 5th-6th century British Isles. Small kingdoms fought to protect their people, their land, & their ways of life, while Anglo-Saxons attempted to establish their own fiefdoms, & Christian monks sought to supplant the Old Ways. Languoreth & her brother fight these changes as they build their lives.
