read this as research for a piece I'm writing and while I wouldn't have picked up human/dragon erotica otherwise, it was well written! more so than the other dragonfucker books I browsed. a fun, bizarre, horny read (compliment)

A very cute queer rom com about a bisexual woman and a nonbinary person who fall in love on a cooking competition show.

I feel like N.K. Jemisin loved the world she created in the inheritance trilogy so much that she had a hard time leaving it behind

Salvador by Joan Didion

At its best when it focuses on the meaninglessness of governmental and bureaucratic language, but doesn’t take the opportunity to learn about Salvadoran people. I don’t think any are quoted who aren’t government officials.

Feels very much like a filler book to get all the characters and info in place for the next one.

I'm So (Not) Over You by Kosoko Jackson

I really enjoy Jackson’s voice but found the plot a little convoluted - I was never really sure why Kian and Hudson broke up in the first place or why they decided to get back together (besides being super attracted to each other).

3 dark and disturbing novellas from Yoko Ogawa — loved the chlorinated vibes of the Diving Pool, was freaked out by the actions of Pregnancy Diaries, and left a little confused about what was actually going on in the most subtle of the 3, the Dormitory.

I really enjoyed this one - it might be my new second favorite of Moreno-Garcia’s (next to Silver Nitrate). This really immerses us in the Hollywood studio system and slowly reveals the mystery of what happened to Vera and Nancy. I do wish the characters had a bit more subtlety - that Vera was slightly less perfect, that Nancy was slightly less cartoonishly evil, and that we learned more about Joe. But the writing keeps us moving quickly and I had a fun time!

Queer by William S. Burroughs

Wanted to read this after seeing Luca Guadagnino’s movie Queer and the first 3/4 is a really straightforward adaption but with a lot more pedophilia in the Burroughs version. I feel confident saying I’m a Burroughs hater.
