I have mix feelings with this book. First of all it’s clearly not enemies to lovers they weren’t enemies even.

It started well then I was bored in the middle but curious at the end.
I blame tiktok for hyping it so much if it was not so hyped I think I would end up loving it.

I don’t think I will read the second book.

I’m very happy to find this book. It gives 2000’s and gilmore girls vibes.

It is about girlhood, womanhood, friendship, and community.

I enjoyed every second while listening to the audiobook and doing my cross stitch project 🧶
I felt like I’m one of their stitching and knitting group.

I love this kind of stories Japanese authors always fulfil and match my desires in stories. One place and one character in the centre while everything and everyone are circling around.

Writing style:
It’s beautifully written. The vivid description made me feel that I’m with them in the photo studio I felt the warmth and the carpet and furniture smell with the coffee machine sound.

The plot twist was  unpredictable and the building for it was written in the best way.

Characters:
All characters are likeable in all three stories.

I really like the mouse character and wanted to know more about him.

Last thoughts:
The photo studio man (Hirasaka) and the delivery man keep each other a company and that makes me happy that at least they have each other and I wanted to really know more about them. How they started working there?

I hardly finished the book I was even thinking of DNFing it.
I HATE how Elif kept mentioning the word”Israel” while it is Palestine.
I Hate how she empathises with British colonialists in Cyprus.
I would never recommend the book to anyone.

Claire Keegan knows how to tell a beautiful story in fee pages. This is my second experience with Keegan I liked the melancholy/sweet story it reminded me of Anne of Green Gables. I wish If there was more details and background story. I still don’t understand what was the hand that came out of the water?

When I read about the historical event in Ireland that mentioned in the book I felt so sad for all those woman. This book is beautifully written.Letting you think about the important problems that people see it easier to ignore while you have to do the right thing. Our protagonist is surrounded by great women and he values women. The symbolism of crows 🐦‍⬛ were also beautiful. The ending leaving us with questions we don’t know what is the destiny of the protagonist’s family.
