The Dallergut Dream Department Store by Miye Lee

Super enjoyable read! Full of whimsy and coziness. There was a sad section towards the end that made me cry a bit (if you have a grandparent or child that passed away, the section might make you cry as well). The world is wonderful, the characters are wonderful, and I appreciate that the dreams touched on multiple emotions/feelings that weren't only positive.
Will def read the next book when it comes out.

The Hysterical Girls of St. Bernadette's by Hanna Alkaf

Read trigger/content warnings. The author does have a brief warning at the beginning as well.
Once again, Hanna Alkaf writes another banger for me. She has quickly become my fave ya author not only because culturally I can connect, but also her writing is just so good. It's a great take on supernatural horror/haunted house (well in this case haunted school) while also discussing heavy topics like sexual assault, r*p*, and PTSD. I enjoyed the characters and the story line flowed well for me. I liked the ending overall, but I wish there was one little thing involving the first missing girl to fully close the story. I did start to tear up at one part towards the end which the author somehow always makes me emotional in her books.
There were very topical and memorable lines toward the last fourth of the book like "How many times have we dismissed a girl because she acts in ways that makes us uncomfortable?" and "Perhaps girls just do what they can to get by. To survive." Plus many more that I even took pics of the pages with the lines on them.
I will def be watching out for what the author writes next because every single thing she has written has been top tier for me.

This was pretty good. Def check trigger/content warnings and there is an author's note describing the trigger/content warnings at the beginning of the book as well.
I liked the main characters and the overall story. I also liked the very ending. There was one brief moment that I was like "oh you stupid teen why did you think that would work when it didn't before" but besides that I generally like the main characters. The side characters were also mostly good/enjoyable with a couple exceptions.

Overall pretty decent. I could kind of guess the little twist but it still kept me entertained. Liked the mc quite a bit and overall understood the motivation of the bad guy but how the bad guy explained it was kind of meh.

I'm always a fan of myth retellings/reimaginings and this was a really good sequel. Def teared up a lil at one point. Still thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the story. Enjoyed the journey they went on and liked the ending.

Liked the premise and quite liked the ending. Overall liked the main girls but would've preferred a little more diversity in their personalities (I had a difficult time with the audiobook remembering who was who). I did like the rep of someone on the aro/ace spectrum, a lot of sapphic romance characters, and a trans character.
Absolutely hated Millie's dad and I'm glad how that situation was handled at the end.
But overall the book was just okay. I didn't love everything in it but I didn't hate anything either (except for Millie's dad and Raina's bf and the original mock trial team advisor 😂)

Light easy still kind of cringey but still fun read.  My main complaint was Bree's age compared to her love? interest. Pretty weird tbh to have a 15 year old and a "just shy of 18" year old kiss for me.

Read content/trigger warnings.
I don't love white people writing people of color as solely victims in stories especially when the person doing harm is white in the story. Otherwise not a bad novella, but not one I'd recommend. Was better then the other horror novels I read but still not something that wowed me.
