We are finally finding our groove in the Lore! Kresley Cole is finding her rhythm and path in the paranormal romance genre and I can honestly say that I am loving it! No Rest For the Wicked, centers on the story of the great Valkyrie, Kaderin, and the loner vampire Sebastian; as they both compete in the ‘Hie’—the great adventurous scavenger hunt that happens every 250 years in the Lore—however both strive for different prizes, Kaderin wishes to brings her sisters back to life and Sebastian wishes to make Kaderin his bride.
Ya’ll I was a little hesitant jumping into the second book after such a rocky start with the first novel, but oh my goodness am I so glad I listened to those in the read along and gave it another shot, because wow did I enjoy Kaderin and Sebastian. Kaderin is this fierce Valkyrie, known to everyone as Kaderin the cold-hearted as she can no longer feel emotion due to a blessing from the Goddess after her sisters were killed in a battle against vampires. The character growth that Kaderin goes through is one of my favorite things about this story as she has to relearn what emotions are and feeling them along side her every time Sebastian is near her.
Sebastian was such a sweet bean, we are given the classic sad boi hero (with alpha male tendencies if I’m not gonna lie) and badass heroine who wants absolutely nothing (but everything) to do with him but because they are fated, they can’t seem to stay away from each other. I loved watching him figure out how to be the best version he could be of himself for Kaderin and always finding ways to be near her or helping her, even if it meant losing a limb or two.
Honestly, I think No Rest For The Wicked is probably the best place to start this series if you are looking to jump into this series. You get adventure as different immortals scour the world for different trinkets and items, a hot and sizzling enemies to lovers that is riddled with a chemistry so sweet and passionate—you can’t help but swoon.

I had some issues, but they weren't nearly as prevalent as in the previous book. I really enjoyed watching their romance unfurl and Kaderin is absolutely magnificent. Love love love.

I loved this pairing. The plot was decent, and I appreciated that it was a slow to love but instant burn romance. Authors typically go to extremes with love stories having to be a slow burn or an instalove. The world building was nice and we got introduced to a few more creatures of the lore as well as some back story on the gods aspect. I'm really enjoying this world and how dynamic and different each pairing has been.

The setting of the game for this book was super fun! I listened to the audio and enjoyed it, though his voice for the sex scenes was a lot dramatic and breathy, haha.
I also appreciated that Kaderine stayed true to herself by staying fierce and ruthless throughout.
I liked this book better than the first.
I love that both characters acknowledge that they're feeling pulled together by fate, but they also acknowledge that they're not in love immediately, which I can really appreciate!

4 stars = I liked this book. I have a habit of not reading the “jacket” summaries once I start a series. This was not the story I expected after reading the others, but I enjoyed it and look forward to the next.
