I didn’t love the amazing race style of the action/plot, but I do really enjoy Cole’s skill with relationship development. It was still a fun and enjoyable read despite a lackluster plot line.

This is Kresley Cole’s second book in her Immortals After Dark series and I am really enjoying exploring this world she created. It focuses on Sebastian and Kaderin who are fighting to get what they want while competing in an Amazing Race type game for supernatural creatures. Suffice to say the tasks are a bit more challenging and a touch more deadly, plus they are run by the whims of a goddess so really anything can happen. Definitely a good read!

I LOVE the character of Sebastian. What a frickin' sweet heart! All science and study and awkward! Too adorable! You feel so badly for him when he laments why women didn't get him when he was younger. It was so bitter sweet. I like the Kaderin character too but her absolutely dissing him got a little bit old after a while though it, of course, worked out in the end. I would love to hear more about Sebastian and Kaderin to insure that baby boy Sebastian is doing well and feeling good about life. As a character he only deserves so much. Cute story.

I have worn myself out on this series, and my pocket$.
I did love the game aspect of this one.
I also love Sebastian's innocence.

I found it so weird that he just decides her name doesn't fit her and calls her a different name.

I enjoyed that this romance between a vampire and a valkyrie is packed with an worldwide 'Amazing Race' type adventure story, as well as including emotional healing and a theme of learning to feel comfortable with who you are.

Kaderin the cold-hearted is sent to Russia to kill a mysterious vampire holed up in a decrepit castle. But, when she gets there she hesitates. And from there it gets HOT. Despite the fact that she hates vampires because one killed her twins and she's been cursed with having no feelings. This vampire definitely woke up those feelings! Their first interaction! Wow. Sebastian, the missing brother of Nikolai wants to die and almost gives in until he meets Kaderin, and becomes blooded.. meaning she's his Bride. He spends the entire book trying to convince her and sometimes himself that he's different, not part of the Horde and that they are meant to be together.
Now.. the scenes were SEXY AF. Especially on the plane! Who knew! And I just love how they fell into marriage type scenes a few times so naturally, until Kaderin fights it and runs away.
I loved how he worked to help her win the Hie and the twist ending though! Ugh. If she wasn't so stubborn! But.. she got her sisters back AND gets to be with him! I just love them together.
