When I hear readers and writers and publishers talk about VOICE, I think of Jenna Fox.
Audiobook review:
I don't think Lamia added anything to the story, and I'm not sure I enjoyed the voices of Lily or Alys, however nothing can truly diminish the beauty of this novel. I did choose to rate this edition of Jenna Fox 4/5 stars, rather than 5/5 as per usual, and that is due to the narration.

Jenna feels strange. It feels like she's learning everything for the first time. She's been in a coma for a year and a half. Her family no longer lives in Boston, her friends are gone, and her grandmother, Lily, can't seem to stand her. As her memories start to come back, Jenna really wonders what's happened to her. The truth sets her back and makes her question her very existence. You see, Jenna almost died in a horrible car crash. Her entire body and 90% of her brain have been replaced with Bio-Gel and skin grafts. Jenna is illegal and her parents could be in huge trouble if she's discovered. Jenna doesn't know what to think. Should she be allowed to live? Is she really Jenna? How far should science really be allowed to go.
A combination of prose and poetry. Jenna's story is powerful and heart-wrenching. It's told in 1st person and we only know what Jenna does. Reminded me of Robin Wasserman's books too.

This book is quite thought provoking...
It makes you question how far should modern medicine go. Should we not save people's lives with modern medicine because God intented to injure them maybe fatally? Or should we do whatever we can to keep people alive because we were intended to find and create modern medical technology and medicine? Or really is there even a God, or was what happened just fate?
It makes me wonder

I found the "twist" in this unsurprising, but it remained strange and compelling.

Good book. Raises a lot of bio/medical ethics questions. I didn't really like the last chapter. The book would've felt complete without it and the reader could have pondered the outcome.

Really enjoyable. A nice YA book with science fiction woven into the usual plots of growing teen characters struggling to find a place in their world. A bit long in parts but overall I'd recommend it as a well-written and intriguing concept that was interesting to listen to in the car.

This book started good, and quickly descended the hill of disappointment. Pacing was extremely slow. The characters were difficult to get attached to. The twists were unsurprising and anticlimactic. The concept of the story was intriguing, but the execution wasn't there.
