Barker is one of my favorite writers. The stories in this one…
“Dread”: Wonderfully written, and just as disturbing. This one bothered me- a friend in college has a habit of kidnapping and holding people hostage to torture them, to surprising results.
“Hell’s Event” Demons come up from hell to attempt to thwart democracy via a marathon race. Very timely.
“Jaqueline Ess: Her Last Will and Testament”: A woman survives suicide, and discovers she can use her mind to do shocking things. Probably my favorite of the collection.
“New Murders in the Rue Morgue”: This was a wild and interesting one. Loved the treating of the Poe story as real history to jump off from.

Pretty OK, but honestly this set didn't have anything that will stick with me like "In the Hills, the Cities"

Ι liked the stories in the first one more, but this certainly had a few really strong ones, especially the first one!

Clive Barker is very good at gore and of placing stories in original settings. These stories really began to grow on me as they went on.

Not quite as good as the first volume, but still enjoyed it! Like the last one, the stories seemed to be almost perfectly organized from what I thought were the strongest to weakest.

There are some exceptional stories in here - a stronger collection than the first overall.
