Books of Blood, Volume Two by Clive Barker
3.0
Barker is one of my favorite writers. The stories in this one…
“Dread”: Wonderfully written, and just as disturbing. This one bothered me- a friend in college has a habit of kidnapping and holding people hostage to torture them, to surprising results.
“Hell’s Event” Demons come up from hell to attempt to thwart democracy via a marathon race. Very timely.
“Jaqueline Ess: Her Last Will and Testament”: A woman survives suicide, and discovers she can use her mind to do shocking things. Probably my favorite of the collection.
“New Murders in the Rue Morgue”: This was a wild and interesting one. Loved the treating of the Poe story as real history to jump off from.
