The absolute emotional anguish I'm experiencing is unreal.
After another short time skip, we see lots of different moving parts culminating into this finale. Kitty proves a hero and that commoners aren't as weak as thought; the Conspiracy takes its final steps toward dominance with disastrous results; the spirits from the other side find their opening; and Bartimeaus and Nathaniel, despite starting off the book against each other, come to an uneasy understanding. It was so touching to see a lot of Bartimeaus' more "human" side (he'd hate me for saying that), and get the story on Ptolemy. By the end, the way Bartimeaus has always seen a bit of Ptolemy in Nathaniel is going to have you sitting there either shell shocked or screaming in bemused awe. Though some of this book was a little underwhelming at times, I think the fast pacing and insane twists and turns the story takes does make up for it.
Now I shall go have a word with my boyfriend, because he recommended this book and knew damn well I ship Kitty and Nathaniel. That kind of betrayal is not to be taken lightly!

An excellent wrap up to this trilogy. Bartimaeus is just as funny and witty in this book as in the first two, however we DO get a better look at his past in Ptolemy's Gate. This look at his distant past gives us insight into why he is who he is. It helps with the fantastic character development that happens in the last bit of the book. And speaking of character development, Nathaniel and Kitty both go through serious transformations in this book. Timely, hard-won transformations.
As with the other two, I highly recommend this book. You can't go wrong with a Bartimaeus novel.

This is a spectacular ending to a spectacular trilogy, and possibly the most beautifully tragic ending of any book series I've ever read.
The Bartimaeus trilogy (and prequel) is tied with Harry Potter as my #1 favorite series of all time. The Bartimaeus trilogy is the only series EVER to be tied with Harry Potter as my most favorite series. I really want to go to England for the sole purpose of getting my Bartimaeus books (and my Lockwood & Co books by the same author) signed. As you can tell, I am totally in love with this series. The plot is amazing, the characters are phenomenal (the amazingly witty and entertaining Bartimaeus in particular), and the writing itself is superb. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone and everyone of all ages everywhere ;)

Ahhhhhh so awesome! It is so rare that the final book in a trilogy is better then the earlier volumes but this one is just amazing. The story is strong, the character development is captivating, and all the little threads spun in the earlier works create an amazing tapestry. I finished and just sat stunned for a few moments thinking..."WOW!" I am so glad I read this series.

I felt a little detached from this book for most of it. It was fast paced and fun, but it never really got me. A little predictable but what a memorable ending.
