Among the main characters: bats, a squirrel, some horses, two cats, a baby dragon, and lots of wolves, of course. Another book I'd love my nieces to read.

Comfort food, book edition. Great fun. You can't beat talking wolves and turning into a wolf for me.

I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first book in the series, where you’re learning about her ability and there is more action. I felt this plot stagnated a bit in the middle, and I missed Numair! I still love this world and Tamora Pierce, so I look forward to the next one in the series!

What a fun ride
Is the moral heavy handed? Yes. Do we need that sometimes? Also yes. This series still bangs and man, I love Tamora's mastery of making really cool characters.

I think most of my "issues" with this book series stem from their age. They definitely read like books from the 90s, and while that's not a problem, the style catches me off guard sometimes. I enjoyed the story though, and hope to see more development of Daine in future books.

We learn a little more of Daine. She learns more about herself in this book as well. We see a more in depth view of her power and what more she can actually do and what things she thought she couldn't but actually can. She's very very powerful! I like the interaction with all the different types of animals and species! So cool to have this concept explored further in depth! Can't wait to read what's next!
