What a completely different book- the events and experiences of several nights are told by 5 connected characters, each in turn, picking up the thread left by the previous narrator. They are full of lust, and self loathing, and sometimes even hope. They show what it means to be a Greenlander, a liar, a cheater, true to oneself, queer. Once I got rolling with the events, I flew through this. I hope the author publishes again soon.

Queer Greenlandic literature? Yes, I’m listening.
Told through the voices of five characters, this books started strong with Fia hating her boyfriend. It was interesting and funny and I was ready for more.
Sadly, the book fizzled by the third point of view. The characters felt flat, underdeveloped, and the arc of the story also felt underwhelming. A love at first sight storyline should feel electric (I’m thinking Blue is the Warmest Color), but this wasn’t. And there was a problematic aspect of one character revealing/declaring the gender identity of another character that just didn’t sit right.
I think with more editing, this could have been something good. From what I’ve read, it sounds like the author hammered this out pretty quickly, and it shows.
A fun by-product of reading this book is that I became interested in Greenland and did quite a bit of reading about it!
