Was expecting it to be a cheap cash grab and it was one.

The instalove was expected given the love but it was just boring af. The characters all felt 2D and there wasn't enough worldbuilding (or any) worldbuilding. It would get teased and then ripped away because I guess it would ruin the appeal of the books or something?? I know a third book is being written and I'll be shocked if the author doesn't use it as the basis for another cash grab.
Also the excessive slang was genuinely killing me inside. It was bearable since I listened to it as an audiobook but I would've been screaming if I had to read each word.

Final complaint: the prolific mentioning of 9/11?? LMFAO?? would come out of NOWHERE.

Do I dare say I actually liked this way more than the first one? To me, I felt like this novel had so much heart and so much love just pouring out of it, I kind of wanted to cry the entire time. This is so genuinely loving, and all of these people are just trying their best to be family before they can't anymore, and I loved it. I also spent the last 15-20% genuinely shocked at the ending which is not something that normally happens to me! It was missing a certain specific sparkle to be rated 5 stars, but it definitely got close.

Yes, The First To Die At The End is long(-ish), longer than They Both Die At The End at least, and for a whole while I thought these two will also die at the end BUT at the end of the day it is another incredibly amazing and lovable book by Adam Silvera. I could really feel with the characters and the plot kept me on the edge - just like the back and forth with the different storylines. Again, amazing application of "Chekov's gun" and amazing descriptions of falling head over heels for your first love in the most unexpected moment. I appreciate all of these characters an awful lot and hope there will be some more books in this universe

Beautiful story, well written, slightly predictable.
I think the writing of the sex scene left something to be desired with its lack of justification.
