Holy huge tome
Did this book have to be almost 600 pages? Granted we got to spend more time with Rosato, DeNuzio, and Carrier but come on! The only reason I stuck with it, other than the series is nail biting, was because I've read "Think Twice" which answers the question of whether Bennie and criminal Alice are sisters.

I haven't read a lot of John Grisham's stuff, but everything I have read of his I found more enjoyable than Mistaken Identity. The pacing was too slow, I didn't bond with any of the characters, and the whole thing was too long (I skimmed through the last half). I didn't realize this was in the middle of a series of books about Bennie Rosato; I wonder if the rest of them are quite similar.
Still, it's easy to read, and if you like this sort of thing it will go fast and (possibly) satisfy your lawyer-thriller-mystery with a "surprise" reading need. My MIL found it "very good", so there's that.
One thing that irked me--every time a new character is introduced, I felt like a formula was being used to describe them. Take up a paragraph. Talk about the eyes, cheekbones, chin, other facial features. Mention their height. Throw in some other physical detail, possibly with a metaphor. Rinse, lather, repeat. I'll be giving it back to my MIL!

Mistaken Identity was the first book by Lisa Scottoline that I've read. It intrigued me and although thrillers/suspense are not my cup-of-tea, I could not put the book down. There were some expected twist and turns throughout the book but overall, it was a satisfying read.

Bennie Rosato has to take on a case to defend a woman, Alice Connolly, from a charge of murder. Alice claims she is Bennie's twin, although Bennie has never known about a twin. Police corruption, drugs, murders, and boxing all play a role in this novel. Enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this book; the writing was great, the story was interesting and it took place in Philadelphia! It was cool to know about the places in the city where the characters were working. The author was a lawyer so she writes about legal issues with accuracy but it doesn't take away from the plot or the mystery that's at the center of the action. I'm definitely going to read other books by this author.

I just don't like books that use curse words when they don't need them. It's just stupid and ends up being distracting to the plot of the story.
Besides that, the plot seemed force, it didn't come together until the end (and even then it seemed forced and rushed), and her quest to end with a surprise, twist ending was just too much.
An okay book. Nothing special.
