The Netflix series of the same name is magnificent. The book is no less!

It's impossible to read this without hearing David's voice narrating as you go. Thankfully, his voice is a beloved one, so this only adds to the power of his words.

It's also impossible to read this and not be moved by our amazing planet and the dire state it is in, thanks to us. David does a great job in explaining why biodiversity is so crucial to our survival and why we must act now.

However, after being inspired by David and ready to do my part, there wasn't anywhere for my motivation to go. I would have liked a concise list of actions to take at the end of the book. It seems there are solutions and ideas to address all the problems mentioned in the book, but they feel too big to achieve individually, and certainly most of them will require government lead changes. I will try and make some changes to my lifestyle after reading this, but I fear it may be too late - even David himself says it needs to be a global change or it won't make any difference.

"Unless we stopped ourselves, we would continue to consume the Earth's physical resources, until we had used them up."

"We moved to being a part of nature to being apart from nature."
