I would run, shoving my family out of the way with little guilt and no concern for their viewing preference, to watch this as a movie on the Hallmark Channel.

I know several in my book club who will love this novel, and that warms my heart.

My rating is irrelevant, so I’m not giving one. But please, please make this into a Hallmark movie

A cute story of a downward spiral put to an end by the support of friends and family. Yinka is constantly being reminded of her lack of a husband by the women in her community, which pressures her into telling small lies that grow into a full-sized disaster. I loved the theme of self-love. My only critique is the Christian framework, particularly the language that Yinka is “saving herself” for marriage. Meanwhile she has a cousin who had premarital sex, so naturally she got pregnant and had a shotgun wedding, but guess who her husband really wants? That’s right, the Virgin Yinka. Fortunately Yinka fixes her relationship with those she has hurt, including herself.

3.5 ⭐️. The first half was a British-Nigerian version of Bridget Jones. I hated Bridget

3.5 or 4 ⭐️ this book is not something I would usually pick up but I’m glad I did. It was very heartfelt and fun while still touching on important social and cultural topics.
