Very silly, but cute.  Except for the star-nosed mole which is disturbing.

Close up photographs challenge the reader to decide if the picture is the butt or the face of a creature. The following page shows a bigger picture of the animal/insect. and gives information about it. This would be great done as a warm up activity, an activity for discussion with partners, a way to get kids to focus on little details. Geography/biomes/habitat would be good connections as well. Hey! there's a 2nd one!!
Fun and funny!

The seven-year-old was VERY into this. It's both a challenge and a jumping off point for further discussion about various animal adaptations. Great fun.

When I saw this book on Instagram I knew we needed to request it hahaha. Butt or Face did not disappoint hahaha. It has a funny picture on every page that you try and figure out if it’s a butt or a face. Then the next page will talk about the animal and give some fun facts. So this is a humorous book that also teaches you about animals you may have never seen or heard of. Theres a second one and we have requested it too because we couldn’t get enough. My daughter had a blast with this and even made my mom “play the butt or face” game too haha.
We would absolutely recommend this book.

This book was a hit with the kids (ages 4-13) in my family. The book features zoomed in photos of an animal, plant, or insect and asks readers to guess if they are looking at a butt or a face. A fun nonfiction picture book that is full of educational content. A must read for children who love animals.

This is absolutely an eye-catching premise from the cover of this book--and it delivers so well! The guessing game aspect of this book is fun and participatory and the information about each animal is interesting and well chosen. Plus, the added details leaning into the theme (like "Where they rest their butts" and "what they put in their face") just add to the fantastic-ness of this book. Kids will love it, (and adults will too, once they get over the initial eye-roll at the premise). All elementary libraries and classrooms should have a copy of this one to engage readers!

This is great. Fun and funny with just enough facts that you learn, but not so much that it bogs down the book.
