Like a number of authors, Connelly has created a world of memorable characters in a string of novels. In The Reversal he brings two of my favorites together again, half-brothers, Mickey Heller and Harry Bosch. Putting the two together provides a wonderful legal-thriller, working-detective feel to the novel. Heller finds himself in the unusual position of being a prosecutor, tackling a murder conviction nearly a quarter century old overturned by the California Supreme Court on the basis of DNA tests. As a prosecutor, Heller teams with his former wife and Bosch to ensure that Jason Jessup will not go free in this second trial. The chapters in which Heller is the lead protagonist are in the first person; Bosch appears in close third person. The story unfolds with Connelly's meticulous attention to detail, layers of tension building slowly. The conclusion is not what one expects as the facts unfold in the trial. But the foundation for it are there; this is not a sudden surprise-ending.

For the love of God Connelly, get your geography right. One can't take a ferry from Seattle to Port Townsend, you take one to Bremerton or Bainbridge and you DRIVE to Port Townsend from there. If you're going to pick a random location, go to that location and research it.
Meh, really phoned this one in, was missing a lot of the brilliance of the first two books.

Perhaps it is time for a bit of a break on this one. The end felt a bit off and odd. Still an interesting read, but not as good as the first Bosch or Lincoln Lawyer book.

In this book, the two half-brothers Mickey Haller (the "Lincoln Lawyer) and Harry Bosch (LAPD Detective) actually work together on a case; however, Haller gets an office instead of using the back of his Lincoln and crosses the aisle to serve as lead Prosecutor! Taking second chair will be Haller’s ex-wife, the formidable Maggie "McFierce" McPherson. Daughters (cousins) of both men meetup for the first time.

Finally Connelly nails one of his cross-over books. This manages to really work as both a Bosch book and a Haller book without either side feeling neglected. Much better managed than the McCaleb and Bosch crossover.
While the ending is a bit of a letdown, I do find it’s high moments really strong. If that ending was rewritten this could probably be a rare 5 star book.

Bosch and Haller together again - another excellent procedural thriller, well-plotted, dark turns
