Nick Cutter is the new Stephen King. I said what I said.

The biggest barrier I've found as a reader towards Nick Cutter's book is a lack of likeable or even relatable characters. He comes the closest with Eb in this story but that overall issue absolutely killed The Troop for me and kept Little Heaven from becoming really memorable. It also doesn't help that it's extremely derivative of It and I had just read that a few months ago.

Woooo boy! Was this a ride!
If you're familiar with Cutter books, this does not start out in a way you'd expect. If you know what I mean, then you know. And if not? Well, read his books and you'll find out.
So. It starts out not what I would expect, but it wasn't bad. I figured, I've only read The Troop so maybe that was just a one-off. It was good though, and I was into where it was headed, so I kept going.
And then I decided to read while eating lunch. And that's when my nice cozy comfort was ripped away from me, and I had to stop eating.
I shouldn't have eaten while reading.
I was dumb.
Don't be like me...
Bottom line? If you like gross, if you like well written horror, check this out. Just.... Don't get comfortable. And don't eat.

Still my favorite new horror author. I absolutely love his writing style. Utterly creepy. Thoroughly disgusting in his descriptions. I highly recommend

Not a cohesive story or focus, too much was going on and I couldn't get invested in much of it. It was kind of cartoonish and mightve worked better as a comic.
There are some horror elements but I'd label this genre as fantasy or western to be honest

The author really dragged out the story, but he has very odd and uncomfortable descriptions for kids. Also, I was not a fan of the slurs present in the book.

Of Nick Cutter's novels, this is by far the worst. Bloated, slow, and light on genuine scares. Cutter tries his best to imitate Stephen King with a slower pace and more character development than he has previously written, however he could not create compelling characters, locations, or even villains. Stay away.

I was really into this one. My favorite (of three) Nick Cutter novels.
