Idk. It didn't end up being as bad as I feared given how it all started but it could easily have cut out the whole beginning of the book and spent more time on the interesting part, or been shorter. I probably would have liked it more if I hadn't been so wowed by what Adam Neville did with a similar concept in Last Days

A bit heavy on the body horror, but this appears to be cutters style. A great story with compelling characters. In many ways, This is what "it" wishes it was. Creepy and genuinely dark and very well written stuff here. I'll continue to keep reading anything I find by this author.

I tried multiple times over a few months to get into this book because the synopsis sounded right up my alley with the whole cult and evil badness. Sadly I just couldn't get into it and after reading approximately 80 pages and still mired in the histories of the three mercenaries with no end in sight I had to give up. Although the histories were somewhat interesting I felt they could have been a separate book, I wanted to read the book the synopsis described...maybe it would be best if the synopsis were revised to expand what the whole book entailed.

Great audio narrator once again. Body horror, cults, and a Western vibe. What more can you ask for?
