Great concept (hello, middle grade Firestarter!), but this was not what I was hoping for at all. I kind of liked the twist with the older sister and younger brother, but it made Aly feel like an even bigger dud of a character with nothing to offer. I don’t think I’ll be recommending this to kids at school.

This book is about a young girl named Aly Theland, who finds out that when she gets upset she produces fire around her but a plot twist comes up during the middle of the book. What I really like about this book is almost every big moment had my mouth to the floor, I needed to keep reading the book was so good. The only thing I didn't admire about the book is at the ending everything was really clumped together and I didnt fully understand it, which made the end of the book not as intreseting in towards the beginning. Those are my reasons why I gave the book, Ablaze a 4.5 rating!

Terrible writing, especially the dialogue which didn't sound like real human conversations let alone real tweens/teens. Also the family relationships felt shallow and unrealistic, and the parents' reactions (or lack thereof) to the repeated setting of fires was completely absurd.
