2.5⭐️ I wanted to see what the omegaverse had to offer and I had the audiobook available. Reminiscent of my childhood wattpads werewolf phase. Although I don’t understand why they have Alphas and Omegas with regular humans. Interesting plot where the one fated to be her saviour causes her harms. Also, I realised I am a monogamous girly…. Too many guys. The last 1/3 lost me tho hence not fully 3⭐️

phenomenal
When you very accurately highlight the tendencies of a narcissist and a gaslighter so profoundly in a book. It’s literally an art form! Havoc definitely did what needed to be done! Logan can rot. To make roll in his grave she got every cent from him as well! As she should. The pack ugh! You could definitely see how deep Logan had his claws in all of them! Caspian sister was literally the first person she bargained for and she shouldn’t have had to do that! Life handed Havoc a messy hand I’m glad my girl got her HEA. I’d say Bane is my favorite. So quiet and loving! Logan did him dirty too! Then there’s Kai and Angel! I loved their relationship! This book is so well rounded. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat! I really enjoyed this book! From beginning to end! Can’t wait to read Vipers story!

Hacov Killed Her Alpha blew away all my expectations of what a typical omegaverse book would be. I am a huge sucker for scent matches, but I never thought what would happen if your fated mate wasn’t good to you. That’s what happened to Havoc.
Not only was Havoc’s journey incredible, but the entire pack went on a wild incredible ride. This is one of those books where the characters at the end of the book are not the same ones we started with and it was amazing to watch.
If you’re looking for a unique omegaverse world with a great story then I highly recommend this book! It’s instantly become one of my favorites.

Not my kind of omegaverse
I feel like I walked into this middle of a series, or the middle of interconnected stand-alones. It really seems like there should have been either better explanations of this world, or a book previous to this one with better explanations of this omegaverse. Some things were the same as other omegaverse- the scent matching, the heats, the desire to bond, but this one had some differences that needed to be flushed out better.
As far as I can understand, the “alpha aura” is like a blast of their alpha power or alpha bark. I don’t understand why some alphas start to loose it and others don’t. And it’s not ever something that was explained.
Similar to other omegaverses, omegas are almost second class citizens. The gold pack/ gold eye thing doesn’t really make sense to me. Especially since it seems like at some points it’s a bad thing, but then at others it’s a good thing? I’m not a fan of this type of omegaverse. I guess it’s the feminist in me wanting to just throat punch everyone who treats the omega badly.
I wasn’t a fan of the multiple types of bonds. They’re from one extreme to another. You’re either completed subjugated to the alphas or you’re literal royalty? The basic bond wasn’t even really ever considered for Havok. And then the rogue situation…I’m lost.
I despise miscommunication trope to the utmost, and I’d say 75% of this book is FILLED with it. I get that Havok had trauma and the Alphas didn’t know/want to trust her, it just seems like a whole lot of drama could have been worked out with an actual conversation and not just assumptions. The time spent on ping-ponging the miscommunication could have been given to better world building. The whole Eli thing was especially annoying. I wanted to throttle Havok and that’s not at all a normal reaction to an FMC.
The multiple POV and italicized flash backs didn’t really bother me, there’s lots of other authors who use the same style of writing. Again, not to beat a dead horse, I just think those flash backed could have been flushed out better to explain what the heck this whole omegaverse is about. The jumps in time were a little annoying, especially with the spicy scenes. Why give us some good spice to only then fade to black and jump to some random time later? Especially annoying with the heat scene only because of how long we had to wait to finally get it.
Overall it was an okay book. Am I jumping to get to the novella with the same characters, no. And I’m not really interested in any other books in this omegaverse either, unfortunately.

Spectacularly Twisted
First up: this book contains a LOT of Intimate Partner Violence triggers, so please be careful with yourselves.
Characters of Colour?
Iiiiish. Angel seems Hispanic, Kai has “dusky” skin but is described with both platinum white hair & dark hair, so *big shrug*.
QUILTTBAG/Queer characters?
Heeeeeelllll yeeeeeeeah! Sword crossing is my favourite aspect of RH situations.
There could be more of it in here, but it’s understandable that it’s constrained in this story.
Disabled characters?
Yeah, actually.
Angel is suffering from “aura sickness”, which affects his ability to form pack bonds, literally cutting him off from his peers.
Kai is a Seer, & has limited vision because of it.
All five of these characters have Capital T Trauma - the only thing I would have added to this story would have been an epilogue scene where they do actually go to therapy. Cause Dayum. DAYUM.
Worth my time?
8 hours’ read-time across 5 days, a little longer than recent stories I’ve read but it felt right. 100% worth my time, even with the couple of little inconsistency niggles.
Re-read?
It’s already in the queue for a re-read.
This is not a “oh, maybe” or even a “sure, as part of a series once the series is complete.
Oh no.
This is *already queued up*.
Recommend: to folx who like their sword-crossing RH stories with a little extra spice!

Look Deeper
The story of an Omega who k3lled her Alpha and the Pack members who found her.
Havoc was Mated to Logan, Caspian, Kai, Angel and Bane. Except the latter 4 knew nothing of Havoc's existence because Logan their leader/Alpha kept her hidden in secret taunting and tormenting her for his amusement and pleasure.
Havoc and her remaining mates didn't have the type of relationship and Alpha and Omega should have because they didn't trust each other. Havoc blamed her mates for not finding her and saving her; not knowing that her mates didn't even know she existed because Logan kept her a secret from them.
Slowly but surely secrets began to surface which caused tensions to flare and angst amongst the Pack. When a "friend" comes to visit the guys after Logan's funeral, loyalties are tested when the truth about Logan is revealed and Caspian, Angel, Kai and Bane find themselves at a crossroads at discovering the man they viewed as a brother was truly the villain in disguise and the villain they believe Havoc to be was truly a victim.
It was a long road ahead for Havoc and her mates. Before bonds could be established; trust needed to be earned and before any of that could happen Havoc and her Mates needed to reveal their secrets to one another and release all of their past hurt and pain.
The theme of this story was simply: Things Aren't What They Seem. Loyalties were tested, Bonds shaken, Brotherhood on the verge of ruin all because of one Pack members obsession with Power and Control.

Took a while for me to figure out what was going on. Needed more spice sprinkled throughout the book.
