Havoc Killed Her Alpha by Marie Mackay

Spectacularly Twisted

First up: this book contains a LOT of Intimate Partner Violence triggers, so please be careful with yourselves.

Characters of Colour?

Iiiiish. Angel seems Hispanic, Kai has “dusky” skin but is described with both platinum white hair & dark hair, so *big shrug*.

QUILTTBAG/Queer characters?

Heeeeeelllll yeeeeeeeah! Sword crossing is my favourite aspect of RH situations.
There could be more of it in here, but it’s understandable that it’s constrained in this story.

Disabled characters?

Yeah, actually.
Angel is suffering from “aura sickness”, which affects his ability to form pack bonds, literally cutting him off from his peers.
Kai is a Seer, & has limited vision because of it.
All five of these characters have Capital T Trauma - the only thing I would have added to this story would have been an epilogue scene where they do actually go to therapy. Cause Dayum. DAYUM.

Worth my time?

8 hours’ read-time across 5 days, a little longer than recent stories I’ve read but it felt right. 100% worth my time, even with the couple of little inconsistency niggles.

Re-read?

It’s already in the queue for a re-read.
This is not a “oh, maybe” or even a “sure, as part of a series once the series is complete.
Oh no.
This is *already queued up*.

Recommend: to folx who like their sword-crossing RH stories with a little extra spice!
