Another good story that continues straight away, this time in the summer again and I was immediately drawn to immerse myself in this world again. It was very exciting to see how the labyrinth worked and how the characters reacted to it. I thought it was good that many of the side characters were mentioned more often and were given more importance. The ending complicated the whole situation Percy and the others are in  and I'm excited to see what happens in the last book and what challenges are coming for them.

Clarisse and her boy <3 cuteeee. Luke seeming to fully recover from his fall and now Kronos is inside of him ohnoooooo !!! And Annabeth and Percy’s first kiss yeah, but the it didn’t end good for their relationship since there are still Kalypso and Rachel ….  And Poseidon showing up at Percy’s Birthday was so random hahaha and Paul wanting to marry Sally is so cute

Percy Jackson is slowly becoming one of my favourite Middle Grade series. It’s fun, tense and action packed with a lot of heart - and a bit of Greek mythology throw in. By this point, the characters are starting to become like old friends, and since the danger they are getting in is becoming more serious, I’ve been finding it hard to put down. I was glad Nico Di Angelo was in this book, as I loved his character in the previous one.

This is probably my favorite of the First series. The plot is more developed, and the pacing is better suited to the plot. I do like how the charecters are more complex and maturing.

disclaimer: i am a pjo fan, so my review is skewed in favor.

i am re-reading this series after not reading it since the first time i picked up these books when i was a kid. not many middle-grade series hold up for adult audiences, but i this one does well. the writing itself is clearly for younger audiences, but it doesn’t sound dumbed-down. as a narrator, percy is funny and genuine, with quick one-liners and sarcastic comments, but they don’t feel forced. i’ve seen many new authors try to achieve the “sarcastic” main character and fail- this is not one of those times. i usually am not a fan of first-person POV, but riordan’s characterization of percy makes me enjoy it.

the battle of the labyrinth is my favorite of this series so far. i am excited to finish out the series and then read heroes of olympus.
