Great paranormal spicy book. I love the monster and world building. It reminded me a lot of Castlevania and I love Castlevania. I would recommend this to anyone wanting upgrade their Twilight fascination to something more mature.

After I realised I’d been making a deep cringing face for the first 4 hours I listened to this on audio, I realised it wasn’t for me. So far there is no plot that wasn’t ripped out of a google search of “please give me the plot of the most boring no-thought-necessary attempt at an “enemies to lovers” trope story that’s ever existed”
Maybe it would have been better if I was just reading it, and not listening to it? But… I highly doubt it was the saving grace for this dumpster fire of literature.

I really liked this first book in the series. The FMC was a POC and I was hooked. As I kept reading, I loved Adrian and Isolde's relationship that developed over time. The people in her kingdom, especially her dad had me skeptical the whole time. They seemed very ugh. So I wasn't surprised to read about all of the betrayal that happened left and right. But I was shocked to see how far people from her kingdom would go to hurt Isolde after they were all in her face saying how much they loved her.

Take a while to get going but once it does it’s pretty good. The first book is definitely a lot of setup for what’s to come so it somewhat light on action.

A tad more explicit than what I usually read. While the world-building is interesting, it isn't exactly original and could be developed further. The story itself is compelling, though intrigue could sometimes feel repetitive (I get it, other court ladies want to bone Adrian too) and hinging on the main character’s lack of respect despite her rank (seriously, how does Killian still have a job??) That said, I'm glad I ventured into the popular romantasy genre. This wasn't exactly the book for me, but it was entertaining, and I enjoy occasionally stepping out of my usual reading comfort zone
