King of Battle and Blood by Scarlett St. Clair

3.0

A tad more explicit than what I usually read. While the world-building is interesting, it isn't exactly original and could be developed further. The story itself is compelling, though intrigue could sometimes feel repetitive (I get it, other court ladies want to bone Adrian too) and hinging on the main character’s lack of respect despite her rank (seriously, how does Killian still have a job??) That said, I'm glad I ventured into the popular romantasy genre. This wasn't exactly the book for me, but it was entertaining, and I enjoy occasionally stepping out of my usual reading comfort zone
