On the one hand, there was a lot I legitimately enjoyed about this one, but I also found it to be a bit nonsensical. I've heard from several parties that this series keeps improving, so I'm happy to continue.

This one (#2 in the series) was really good, but it’s because of the great side stories of the other characters (one storyline in particular was very touching & May induce tears at times). Poppy’s and Fletch’s tale was kind of ridiculous - basically, they’re just dumb because they were married young and didn’t know any better and her mother is the stereotypical “evil mother who’s jealous of her daughter”. I’m loving #3 though!

Objectively well-written and unusual. A romance of the disenchanted marriage. Less Christmas than I ahd hoped and less love than I had hoped! This is a resurrection story with real struggles and human imperfections, gritty rather than glossy, sad rather than sweet.

I didn’t enjoy the fist book in this series at all, which galled me since I shared a first name with the heroine, and you don’t come across many Roberta’s in romance, so I wanted to like it. But this one was sooooooo much better!!! Significantly, actually. I’m so glad that I listened to my friend and gave it another try. I really enjoyed all the side stories rather than feeling overwhelmed by them in this one. Maybe because I “know” them all now. I’m really looking forward to seeing how all their stories turn out!

Was far more interested in the secondary storylines than the main couple-- felt like this was just a prop for Jemma/Beaumont/Villiers' books.

The main plot is incredibly stupid, as are the two lead characters, but there is enough going on in the subplots to merit the extra star.

I got half way thru before I realised it didn't capture my attention. Sad as I was looking forward to reading this, but I purchased other couple of her books that I hopefully click with more.

This novel was more like 3 stories in 1 and I wanted more focus on Poppy and Fletch instead of all the side stories. The story picks up where Desperate Duchesses left off and continues many of the side stories from the previous book. Unfortunately, Poppy and Fletch, barely make up 1/3 of the book. Most HR novel focus on the courtship between the main characters so I really enjoyed that this book focused on a married couple trying to remember why they still loved one another. While I enjoy tension between Jemma and Elijah and am looking forward to reading their book I really wanted more from Poppy and Fletch. I'm not a fan of the character Charlotte so her parts in the story were tedious to get through.

I realllllly enjoyed this. I really didn't like the first book in the desperate duchesses series and I think it's because I thought it ended on a rather sour note, but I also did not realize that it would continue in a parallel/serial manner with a long series (even though I know I read book 7, which was AMAAZING). Anyway, I thought Jemma was a hoot, I love her and aspire to be her when I grow up, yup, that's what I just said. Whatever people, don't judge. She seems like she's having a FANTASTIC time, minus her asshat of a husband. I find I write that last sentence all too often when writing reviews on historical romance novels....ah well, such is life.
Anyway, Poppy was fun and her mother was the devil and I understand that is the crux of the novel, but she drove me to nearly tearing my hair out!! But hot damn, the ending area of the book was just....luscious. :D
