Kemmerer is a fine writer, but the unnecessary mature content (loads of it in this book) ruined it for me. Will not reread.

I ate this book up in a day. Very easy read between the two main narrations. It had a bit of mystery and a lot of honesty. It’s also very in the time with word choice and references. Several sweet moments happen at Wegman’s grocery and it just warms my heart.

I had ZERO expectations for this book. Found it in the library and took a chance.

I AM SO GLAD I DID. It was amazing!!!

I can’t even. Excuse me while I hug the book for a while.

The moral quandries though...some really heavy stuff, lots to think about. This book really digs deep into the murky gray areas of black and white.

Loved this!! A teenage story of overcoming terrible obstacles and, yes, a twist at the end!!
Maegan the honor roll student caught cheating on the SATs
Rob, the son of an Enron-esque businessman who failed a suicide attempt and is left in the worst medical condition.
Samantha, Maegans sister, home from her scholarship first semester with an agonizing secret.
This is a woven tale of teenagers with adult problems and how they navigate loss and loneliness.

I absolutely loved this book. It was a lot heavier than I expected it to be, but it felt so real and all the issues brought up made the characters feel complex and authentic. I couldn’t put it down.

Gotta admit, I didn't love this as much as the other two contemporary YA romances of Brigid Kemmerer's I've read. I enjoyed the complexity of the characters' situations, and how the stories tied together. I enjoyed seeing the way certain relationships played out. But I just didn't feel the romance between Maegan and Rob at ll, there was zero chemistry there and it always felt very forced. It wouldn't have been as popular, I'm sure, but I'd have much preferred a friendship story here, because I think that's what they both needed more than anything. The romance really detracted from everything else, in my opinion.

Other people don’t have the challenges we have... but that doesn’t mean they don’t have their own.

I've read this book for a buddyread and I don't regret it. This book was such a quick read for me, I just couldn't stop reading. The story had many recognizable aspects, like doing what feels right or doing what is good. Listen to all these people, keeping these secrets with you and not knowing what to do with al these secrets that aren't yours. I really loved this book and the characters.
