I read the novel once and didn't really “get” it. I can’t say this graphic novel made me love the book, but the way it presented the story worked better for me and helped me keep track of what was happening “when.” I liked the art style a lot and think, as a whole, it’s a really well-done adaptation.

slaughterhouse-five is one of my favourite books, so i was instantly intrigued by the idea of a graphic novel and am so glad i read this.

billy's becoming unstuck in time translated incredibly well to an illustrated format, and i felt that ryan north and albert monteys did an exceptional job at capturing vonnegut's voice and outlook.

i'm not sure if anything can compare to the original novel for me, but this certainly came close. the only thing i really missed was vonnegut's prose so maybe this is just a sign for me to read more of his work this year.

This is does exactly what it set out to do: clearly depict Slaughterhouse Five to make the flow of the narrative easy to consume. Will people still be turned off my it’s clippiness? Sure. But the text is less difficult to follow: time jumps, memories, and stories are set with special borders or the tones are shifted, to make it easy to differentiate one thing from another.

Well crafted media. 👌
