Another less successful one in the series, in my view - I found the motivation of one of the main characters completely implausible.

I love this series. This one didn’t catch my attention like a couple others (Virgin in the Ice was a showstopper for me, wow!) but the ending was still satisfactory. They are so easy-going, and though not nail-biting, the mysteries, depth, and integrity of the stories keep your interest. I haven’t read them all yet but I’m enjoying it. Looking forward to the next one!

A decent addition to the series, but not quite on a par with most of the previous books. I figured out the mystery part of it almost immediately, and I suspect anyone who's gotten this far in the series will too, so it's irritating and somewhat inexplicable that it takes the characters so long. It's still a good story, but the drama feels overdone. I think this is the first one where nobody is actually murdered (aside from the hundreds of off-stage deaths in the ongoing civil war). 3.5 stars.

The title is from a marriage-prayer in the Book of Common Prayer. This book describes a strange and beautiful kind of marriage.

In general, I really enjoy the Brother Cadfael series, but I thought the "mystery" in this one was so obvious to figure out that I find myself being seriously annoyed by all the characters who didn't see it. Probably the only Ellis Peters book I've ever found long and tedious.

A lovely and convoluted story that highlights the kind of love that is not often enough celebrated in story and song. I really enjoyed this particular entry in the Brother Cadfael series.

A beautiful and bittersweet book. Not a "usual" Cadfael mystery, but no less absorbing for that. Set around the siege of Winchester in which Robert of Gloucester was captured.

Audible free, was basically lost through the whole book, only at the very end when it was explained did it sort of make sense. Can't imagine why the author felt compelled to even write this book. It was traditional CAD file, but just a waste of time premise. I burned it up in less than a day, it was free, but other than that I can't recommend it
