I've only recently discovered Mell Eight as an author but so far I've enjoyed her writing style. This was no different. I still really enjoy the quality of her writing. But this wasn't one of my favorites of her stories. So far I prefer her fantasy novels.
This story is a little on the sweet side for a mafia story, but a little on the darker side for a sweet and sappy story. It does play with the idea of the mafia man at work and at home, but somehow I left questioning the validity of things. Nick was a little too accepting of things at times, and his backstory never quite made as much sense as I would have liked.
But I did like Nick and Lucy together. They were very cute and their initial meeting was very adorable. The mafia side of Lucy never felt as complete as his gay side. Still this was an enjoyable read and was worth the read.

When I started reading this book I honestly didn't know what direction is was going but as I kept reading it, it kept pulling me in. I really liked Nick and I thought he was perfect for Lucy! They just worked together. You have to understand this isn't a we have to save him and get him away from the mob, this is a mafia love story. People in the mafia need love too. It was a sweet(hehe) love story of them getting to know each other, falling in love with some work on the side. I enjoyed it.

This wasn't a bad story, but it just didn't get my blood pumping. The characters were okay, but there was no major incident to get me to really worry about what would happen next. There was some violence at the beginning and again at the end, but both seemed like minor events overall. It started out decent enough - I read the excerpt and bought the book based on that - but then I felt like nothing really happened.
