Bloody hilarious. Laugh out loud funny, especially if you've ever been camping or on a UK family holiday!

I am only 2 years younger than he author and having spent my childhood holidays camping found so much to bring a familiar smile to my face. We never got as far as France and in general ad much better luck, but those70s camping memories remain. Really enjoyed reading this.

Very funny account of holidays in the 70s and I especially loved the audible version read by the author. I think it will appeal mostly to people who can relate (so over mid 40s). I was always a little jealous of friends who went on family camping holidays, not any more

I really struggled to connect to the narrator.  Not only was she describing herself doing things as a three year that I found hard to follow.  I just didn't want to continue hearing about her story.

If you are a child of the Seventies, then this book will take you down memory lane. It is jaw dropping that one family had such bad luck over a decade. A worthy read

I didn't hate this book but I really, really didn't like it. For a start, it just wasn't funny. It might have been if the stories had been anecdotes as opposed to long, boring, drawn out chapters. The change between referring to her parents as mum or dad to Brenda and Tony mid page was weird and the obsession with bodily functions got very tedious. Just a total yawn for me.

Although this book was set slightly before my time (I was born in 1979) I recognised a lot of the situations that happened to Emma from my own childhood. I experienced camping in Wales and the extremes of weather encountered there and could sympathise with being embarrassed by parents (sorry mum.) There were many funny moments in the book and some loveable characters (Emma herself for one) and it was extremely easy to read and to get carried away with the story, with the unfolding horror. I thought it was a genuinely funny and very British book and I liked it immensely. I recommend it to anyone born in the time frame and from the same social strata. Big thumbs up from me.
