Another strong entry in the Jesse Stone series. I'm really interested to see where Parker takes the character. There is something very enthralling about these books.

This is the third book in the Jesse Stone series.

Another murder is taken on by Stone and crew. This crime was a young girl, and again Stone and crew find the culprits and punish them.

I am currently watching Death in Paradise also on Prime TV.

I generally like the characters and the plots, but I wonder how long it will take Jesse Stone to get his love life settled down.

What can I say about another Jesse Stone mystery by Robert B. Parker. Parker's Spenser mysteries were better. But all Parker work is suspenseful and hold my interest if not memorable. The bad guys are bad and get it in the end.

Jesse finds a corpse in the water. So big case is who shot and dumped the young girl. Small case is a wife beater. Jesse finds girl was part of a prostitution ring of young girls run by the secretary and lover of mobster, Gino Fish. Fish has some scruples and wouldn't use young girls like that. Alan had introduced Billie, the girl, to author Norman Shaw. Shaw killed the girl because she threatened him.

In the wife beater case, Mrs. Snyder winds up leaving her husband. He takes grocery store hostage with his wife as the main hostage. As he was about to shoot his wife, Jesse shoots him.

This was not enjoyable as an audio book - I didn’t realize how much I must usually skim when reading Jesse Stone books - so much “Jesse said”- “She said” - “Suit said” in the dialog - it annoyed me.
The story line of “who killed the teenager whose body was found in the water” was diluted by the side theme of “Jesse loves Jenn and drinks too much” - and “man abuses wife because he wants to control her and now he’s going to kill her”.
The search for the killer was not engaging for me - and now that I've finished the book -
I think they played down the issue with the dead girl to focus on the teen age prostitution ring. Was someone finally charged with the murder? And what happened to the controlling mother in the dead girl's family?

This series continues to get better. I like the written Jesse Stone as much as the Tom Selleck one. The books move right along without a bunch of fluff and filler. I like that very much. However, on the negative side, Jenn makes me sick.
