Death in Paradise by Robert B. Parker

3.0

Jesse finds a corpse in the water. So big case is who shot and dumped the young girl. Small case is a wife beater. Jesse finds girl was part of a prostitution ring of young girls run by the secretary and lover of mobster, Gino Fish. Fish has some scruples and wouldn't use young girls like that. Alan had introduced Billie, the girl, to author Norman Shaw. Shaw killed the girl because she threatened him.

In the wife beater case, Mrs. Snyder winds up leaving her husband. He takes grocery store hostage with his wife as the main hostage. As he was about to shoot his wife, Jesse shoots him.
