A great book. I've read it many, many times, and I finish it in like, two days. And it's a really thick book too, but I can never put it down when reading it.

Wretched! I have never read a book this badly written. I think parents would have a heart attack about the way smoking is portrayed — and I never thought I would say something like that.

This book has a lot of xenophobia and fatphobia in it. It constantly throws down on anyone who is not able-bodied, thin, gender-conforming, and white British/American. The main characters do black face to commit a crime because it was “suitable for carrying out a burglary.”

I didn’t like any of the characters. I didn’t care for writing or pacing. I did not enjoy this reading experience much at all, and I sadly don’t recommend this.

I literally just picked this book up one day when my class was in library and thought to myself "Okay, you know what? I'm bored and I need something to read. This looks interesting, so I'm giving it a shot." Boy am I glad I did! I can't wait until I have time to read the second book!

I really wanted to like this o e,but it falls prey to the same trap Rick Riordan's Red Pyramid did. While there is plenty of action, having two main protagonists seems to divide the focus, even though they are never separated, and while this could. Be a good "coming of age/coming into their powers' tale, neither character ever feels or thinks anything about the amazing events happening to them. Fine entertainment for your ten year old, but this won't become a classic.

Could have been a good read if the casual racism as character sketch method wasn't applied.

I liked the book for the creativity and the writing--however the action and adventure part of it seemed just a little shallow. I would still recommend this book to be read at least once, maybe more. It still is a nice read.
